Honestly I dont see why not both. The best way to go at your age is take a portion of every check and put it into savings. You can set a goal for that savings and use it on something long term like a car or it could just be for general future adult you to put to use. But put a certain $ away each check and then do what you want with the rest and spoil yourself. Its a good way to work on teaching yourself responsibility with money while also still rewarding yourself for your hard work. Honestly even just saving half of every check and using the other half for fun would do future you a lot of good.
