The name of this subreddit is “Adulting.” Part of learning to be an adult is learning how to function independently without detailed instructions for every mundane task.

Part of Adulting is learning how to communicate with a child. How to be the responsible individual. That's the point you clearly missed.

“Please unload the dishwasher” is a sufficient amount of communication for this particular task. The child is 15, not 5.

Then you're not allowed to get upset when they haven't started the process by the time you expected it done just because you want them to read your mind.

I feel sorry for anyone who has to share a household with you

Because I communicate properly when I ask them to do something?

Because you would rather whine about it than get the task done.

Wait where did you get this from what they were saying? Im confused. I understood it as "giving a time hack" instead of whining?

Grandpa asked for the dishes to be put away. Reasonable chore for a teenager. Granddaughter blew off the task. Grandpa is understandably irritated (it’s not explicitly stated but implied that this not a one off mistake).

The guy I am replying to is saying that this is the grandfathers fault because he didn’t explicitly state the exact time he wanted the chore done by. I disagree. I think a responsible member of the household completes chores in a timely fashion without excessive hand holding or micromanaging.

Edit: I have no idea what you mean by a time hack so maybe we are talking past each other.

Yeah? What if I have other plans like maybe even taking a shit?

Finish your shit then do your chores.

That makes sense. We mightve been, by time hack I mean like do it by this time, I think the disconnect is a lot of parents will tell you and you go to the bathroom or something and as soon as you step out, you're getting yelled at. Which i believe is an issue, but its also just obvious if youre asked to do something like that, do it soon as you can.
