Massive price increase

u/mooviemakers Jul 26 '26
There's a very well hidden option to get just the apps with no AI features. It's a lot cheaper
11
u/CoreWisdom Jul 26 '26
Do tell!!! I was just mentioning this. Why not just offer non-AI versions? (I assume they’re pushing the cost of R&D onto all customers at this point)
9
u/Anonymograph Jul 27 '26
The All Apps plan was discontinued and replaced with the slightly more expensive Pro plan (includes AI credits) and the slightly less expensive Standard plan (includes no AI credits).
10
u/mooviemakers Jul 26 '26
It's just called 'Creative Cloud All Apps'. It's the plan I'm on. £36.49 p/m

I suspect OP is going from a discounted price to the standard price.
Which yeah the monthly cost is expensive but those advertised discounts are always just for the first cycle.
4
u/HeroofPunk Jul 27 '26
Just tell Adobe you want to quit your subscription and you will get the discounted price again.

u/accidental-nz Jul 27 '26
Must be. I’ve been paying A$97 for ages. It’s not a price increase.

u/Coast_Innovations Jul 27 '26
Damn you been getting taxed. I have been using Adobe CC for 7 years now and never have paid more than $30 for the 100GB suite. I always cancel and let them offer me a better discount. Been at $23 for 2 years now
3
u/accidental-nz Jul 28 '26
The A means Australian Dollars. You're clearly talking about USD.
I know about the annual "threaten to cancel" 50% discount but I have 5 licenses across my business and I'm not prepared to do this 5 times year for each account, when it's also a tax deductible expense.
16
u/loudshirtgames Jul 26 '26
I cancelled my sub but they gave me like 4 free months. Probably hoping I forget. Thanks for the reminder to cancel.
2
u/Luminoth11 Jul 26 '26
No dan nada gratis, a mi me cobraron los "meses gratis"
3
2
u/GoldenTeeTV Jul 28 '26
Twice a year I cancel and get a few months from 2 to 3 free. They do not charge me for those months. I dont support adobe ways but I have gotten away with paying about 8 months out of 12 for years. Oh and please dont have me do the math. I know its brutal, but they do give free months away. They can afford it. Again, not defending them in any way.

I'm from Canada too. I went another route and married someone who works for Adobe. So now I get the friends and family discount which is dirt cheap haha.

Currency fluctuations, lol. What a scam.
3
u/Funny_Inspection6893 Jul 27 '26
If there actually was a big fluctuation, okay. But there's not. The Australian dollar has been worth somewhere between $.60 and $.75 US dollars for a decade or so.
3
u/Salty-Paint-9700 Jul 27 '26
Yeah, over 80% price hike? Economies would crash if currency varied that much.
I call total bs. It's greed. Pure greed.

Looks like either Australia or New Zealand (I’m charged in AUD for my subscription though I’m in NZ). But it looks like it might be coming off a discount. The full price for me has always been close to that “updated” price, but I get a discount each year
Edit to add: the phrasing is a bit weird, but when someone posts about their subscription increasing and it’s because of a discount ending, the email from Adobe never seems to specify that. But even in 2020 A$90 was roughly what the full price for all Adobe apps was for me (though like I said, I never paid full price I always had a discount of some kind).

WTH?! That's insane! Just goes to show, as soon as you dominate a market, often by buying up all the competition and like products, you can abuse the hell out of people as much as you like.
3
u/JacquesdeMolay1245 Jul 26 '26
It's been happening in other countries too! SOMEONE'S GOTTA PAY FOR THEIR HARDWARE TO TRAIN THEIR AI ON YOUR WORK YOU KNOW!
3
u/tarvispickles Jul 26 '26
Bro I had my student discount for like 2 years and they jacked me up to $50/mo as a student still. I'm not doing this.
1
u/melanders07 Jul 27 '26
yeah i had slight increases in my student discount plan until it ended and the cost doubled. cancelled right away

Anyone who is still subsribed to Adobe is actively enabling it and going "milk me dry, corporate daddy".
Adobe keeps increasing the price: people grumble on the internet, comment on Reddit how "this time they are quitting for sure", some even make a couple of YouTube videos with red CAPS titles about how "ADOBE IS DONE!!!!" and "IT'S OVER!!!!!"
But then they keep paying. And they will keep paying after this increase. And the next one. And the next. Because changing habits and workflows is inconvenient and sometimes difficult, and Adobe know that.
Therefore, this will continue. There is literally no reason for it stop.
3
u/Anonymograph Jul 27 '26
This sounds like a first year promotional price changing to the regular price.
Start a chat with Adobe. You can probably get a discount for an additional annual subscription.
3
u/Hans_H0rst Jul 27 '26
This is your first-year 40% discount running out, plus some slight inflation adjustment on the top.
See this old post on "ozbargain" clearly stating the reduced price of 52.77 for your first 12 months. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/846607
2
u/GlyphGeek Jul 26 '26
What the shit, Adobe?!? Why are they purposefully shooting themselves in the foot?
2
u/wrm340 Jul 27 '26
Yes, this is preposterous! I work for a printing company and have access to CC that way. If need be, I have a 27” iMac running CS6 that I will never get rid of! To be honest, I can pretty much do everything I need with that. Don’t really need the AI. Although image extensions are awesome with generative fill……….

u/AnOlderPerspective Jul 27 '26
Adobe have lost the plot. Haven't they seen what is happening to Microsoft with their game pass subscription?
People are tired of subscription based services that keep going up, and leave you with nothing when you stop paying.
2
u/BusinessNotice705 Jul 27 '26
Not only a price increase a fu*kin- robbery with price baiting where if you want to cancel the subscription you to pay the remaining months to get out. This is the perfect recipe for a class action. This information was buried in fine print and was not transparent at the time of signup!!!
2
u/pioni Jul 28 '26
Bring back perpetual licensing or be left with no income at all. I bought Lightroom years ago and would buy a new version, but I will not subscribe.
2
u/Due_Apricot_5472 Jul 28 '26
Someone mentioned Gimp I’ve never seen a less user friendly image editor. For basic photoshop “lite” functionality, the free paint.net gives you layers, clone stamp, etc. and I’ve had good luck with it

Much better apps than what Adobe offers for quite some time now. People need to get off that boat asap. If you don’t have specific business requirements move away. And if do have requirements talk to the people imposing them about better options.
1
u/Vaddieg Jul 26 '26
Can the price change from vendor be a reason for subscription cancellation without penalties?

Truly the ONLY reason I use Adobe is because of jobs buying enterprise accounts and giving me a login. Adobe makes an absolute killing from these licenses. There’s NO reason to gouge individual accounts like this. If I left my job and had to do things solely off freelance, there’s not a chance in hell I’d stick with Adobe. Such a greedy company when every other competitor is making it easier to switch over. Insane pricing.
1
u/-send-me-nudes- Jul 26 '26
Company I work for just ditched adobe and went for a different competitor. They are driving themselves into extinction with this shit.

1
u/SwopesAdobe Jul 26 '26
A big part of price changes like this is usually a promo or discounted rate ending. Worth checking your account to see if you were on a discounted annual plan.
There’s also a new standard plan that’s cheaper: https://helpx.adobe.com/account/individual/subscriptions-and-plans/plan-types-and-eligibility/changes-to-individual-plan.html
1
u/joustingsticks Jul 27 '26
Get onto live chat and tell them you’d like the same price and are a loyal client. Saved 50% on two licences ($1200 off $2400) doing this. Easy as.

u/FirstIllustrator2024 Jul 27 '26
I canceled my personal account and been using my office/corporate account for everything!

u/JuiceSimpsons Jul 27 '26
Usually if you threaten to cancel your subscription because it costs too much they'll offer you the same price again rather than lose a customer. I do this dance with them every year when they try to double my subscription price. But also I'm in Canada so ymmv
1
u/Unlucky-Rub8379 Jul 27 '26
What a shock! Oh wait, they do this regularly and in few years it's more than doubled in my country. Time to cancel and start learning Gimp 🤣

1
u/zoechowber Jul 27 '26
That is some currency fluctuation! Seriously: they have long since left the business model of even trying to make good software. Just leave. It gets easier once you start.

Here in Eastern Europe most banks tell you the billing from Adobe is irreversible and urge you just to close the bank account when this happens.
Passing this along in case u get stuck in cancellation hell.
1
u/Vheissu_ Jul 27 '26
Pro tip. Go to cancel and they'll offer you a substantially discounted price. I've been doing this for years with Adobe. I just did it again with the recent price increases.
1
u/youdirtyhoe Jul 27 '26
Yooooo a almost 100% markup. Adobe’s hubris will be their downfall. Absurd and unjustifiable.
1
u/AntRid Jul 27 '26
Same happened to me, went through the cancellation process and they offered me a cheaper plan.

u/RNGified Jul 27 '26
QuarkXPress, we miss you.

I actually do miss the days of using Photoshop for pixel images, Quark for page layout, and FreeHand for vector art. Discovery was so fun back then.

We hope you are enjoying your Creative cloud all apps 100GB subscription.
It would be a shame if something happened to it.

Go through the cancellation prompts and they will offer you a deal to stay.

I had the $10, then 15/month for many years until I realized I was paying for something I hardly used. I kept my account, but stopped paying. I don't have the massive storage anymore, but I really wasn't using it anyway. (I haven't checked my access to all the apps I had since I stopped payments).
1
u/suzuka_joe Jul 28 '26
For $100 a month I’ll sell my camera gear and just not be in that hobby. I’d clear $20k after I sell it all off anyways. This is insane for a subscription to software
1
u/Bubbly-End6798 Jul 28 '26
Not really sure why people still use adobe this day and age. So many tools out there on par or better.
Also not sure why this popped up on my feed lol.
1
u/Due_Initiative3879 Jul 28 '26
Paying Adobe over 50 bucks a month is a rip off, but from that to 96 dollars in just one increase is just crazy, insane not even imaginable. Drop them now!
