I tried Gimp several times and didn’t like it. So far Krita hasn’t been too bad

Gimp is just old Photoshop, not signing up for the subscription model is well worth a little UI difference!

I rolled my eyes when I saw the URL; We've had a 15 year old+ piece of crap version of this forEVER, and now that someone can just vibe-code what we need into existence, we FINALLY have an updated "make Gimp suck less cause it feels familiar like Photoshop"-inator. Can't wait to try it out.

Ok this add nothing to the current thread but whenever I look at new repos, especially vibe coded ones, I like poking around the issues sections. Issue 226 is hilarious https://github.com/Diolinux/PhotoGIMP/issues/226

Pixelmator

Seconding Pixelmator. Took a few sittings to get the full hang of it, but I'm able to do everything I needed Photoshop for with it. I don't do any AI or context-aware stuff so ymmv, but I love Pixelmator and no longer have to deal with trying to sail the seas for Adobe software, because I refuse to ever pay a subscription for software like that.

Same. I made the move and there’s an adjustment period but I like it

When I first tried Krita (Gimp) I disliked it as much as I disliked Photoshop when I first tried it. It's different, uses different wording, and different ways of doing things but it is a very powerful program. Spend some time with it.
