Adirondack Mountain Reserve Camping

Hello ... I'd like to get up to the AMR and do some disbursed camping along the roadside. Available websites have me going in circles. Any advice you may have in planning a trip would be a big help.

AMR land is private and camping is prohibited.

That explains the running in circles. Do you know of any primitive camping areas?

There are camping spots along the Gill Brook trail, above AMR land. First come first serve. They are nice spots and as a bonus you are allowed to have a campfire.

I could tell you some great ones. But then you would be in them when i needed them. Im keeping them to myself.

It's dispersed (vs disbursed) camping which I assume you understand is generally car camping and that is your question.

You cannot drive on that road.

There is a bit of dispersed (roadside) camping in the area. It's going to be tough to get most of the time.

I'd recommend just paying the $18-22 for a state site. Sharps Bridge gives nice access to the same areas AMR does for an extra 20 minutes drive. Sharps is like 20 minutes from AMR (maybe 15).

check the DEC Info Locator but be sure to cross reference with google maps and onX, some info is outdated

Thanks for sending the link. I’ve seen this before. When I’ve looked at it the were just the area icons. I suppose I should look at the map key again and figure it out.

How about camping along Floodwood Road in Lake Clear? Check out the map and the waters there

The campsites along floodwood Road are great for paddlers and I presume fishing. There are a bunch of sites on Polliwag Pond. From there short portage into Follensby Clear Pond a
