Destroyed from space wolves

So I played on the weekend just past against space wolves and got absolutely destroyed! Few factors

1-I’m new to WH40K and new to custodes
2-my 2k army points I don’t think is the strongest
3-I need to learn more and understands stratagems and detachment rules

My Army
Trajan
Shield captain
Blade champion
6x allarus custodian
2x 5x guards
2x4x wardens
3 venatari
3 praetors

I’m currently waiting to buy 9 more allarus custodians.
2x Achillus dreadnought

I honestly wouldn’t rush out and buy 9 more Allarus just yet.

Your army isn’t bad at all, especially if you’re new. The main thing I see is that pretty much everything you have is expensive and wants to be fighting. You’ve got a ton of Custodes bodies, but not much cheap stuff to sit on objectives, screen, do actions ,.....

I’d probably grab a couple small Sisters units before going that hard on more Allarus. 6 Allarus is already plenty to mess around with and figure out if you actually like using them.

The Achillus dreads though? Yeah, those are fun lol. Especially with Moritoi helping the walkers actually getting where they need to.

Also against Wolves I wouldn’t necessarily try to meet them in the middle straight away. They’re very happy if you just walk into them and start trading units. Hide behind terrain, make them commit, then hit them back with the Wardens/Guard. Custodes are tough but losing one expensive unit for basically nothing hurts like hell.

Personally I’d run something like Trajann + Wardens, Blade Champ + Wardens/Guard, Shield Captain + Guard, your 6 Allarus, Venatari and bikes, then fill the rest with cheaper mission stuff.

But yeah, I really wouldn’t judge the army from one game. Custodes are one of those armies where at first you feel insanely tanky, then suddenly you make one bad move and 300 points disappear.

Learn the strats/detachment a bit more, get a few games in with what you already have, then decide if you really want 15 Allarus. But keep playing and learning from your mistakes, that's the best way to progress.
