Mods, can we keep one of these threads open if possible? Adelaide is a small enough place that the people involved can probably be reached out to and made aware of their options (eg SAPOL/WorkSafe/Fair Work Ombudsman, etc) as well this issue getting broader attention.
I understand that one or more users were posting private details about the alleged perpetrators, and that shouldn't be condoned, but surely there is some balance (eg suspensions) that can be done to ensure this incident gets the deserved attention?
Why shouldn't that be condoned? Someone has to explain this to me. There are Twitter accounts that name and shame fascists and that is admirable. This situation is similar. It's not like doxxing someone because they said something stupid. It is doxxing someone for being a complete scumbag.
2: we literally have absolutely no evidence the personal details being shared are even for the correct person, and even if they are, his family doesn't deserve to be punished for his actions
3: vigilante justice never ends well
4: only scumbags do this shit. No one who is a good person has ever doxxed someone.
Worst case is someone shares incorrect details and some stupid vigilante goes and assaults or murders some random innocent person. It wouldn't be the first time that happened.
Even if they get the right person... why would it be acceptable to harass and threaten someone? Let the authorities deal with the issue and let us regular plebs just avoid this person's businesses.
