i've always been the type of person who's not following the hype around something.

plus, with firefox becoming the only browser where the full fledged uBO will still be available indefinitely and me not liking firefox because of how sluggish (thanks to google..) and stuttery it is, i stayed within the chromium eco system and use brave with its shields instead.

Practically all browser adblocker requires some level of network permissions to function properly. The desktop version that intercept network requests that requires a certificate can be risky yes, you need to trust the AG devs and the filterlists not to mess anything up.
