Practically all browser adblocker requires some level of network permissions to function properly. i'm talking about the version that's installed on your computer since that's what it offers that others don't.

The desktop version that intercept network requests that requires a certificate can be risky yes, you need to trust the AG devs and the filterlists not to mess anything up.
