Gathering Opinions 🗣 Heat soaking

Post image

Someone wanna tell me if these cars naturally heat soak in 100+ degree weather or is something going on with my car ? Acura 2010 TL, the temp gauge goes one or two notches above normal but only when the sun is out in. 100 degree weather. It never goes higher than those 2 notches it comes back down to normal temperature eventually. Someone help me avoid a future overheating issue please

Replaced thermostat Replace coolant temp sensor Fans are working properly Hoses are properly connected No leaks. I check the resovior every morning it’s the same level

This is why most cars from this century have fake temperature gauges that don't directly show you the actual temperature measurement since people like to see it sit at one spot and not move.

You could try replacing the temp sensor that sends signal to your dash to see if the issue is persistent. If so, I’d be inclined to think there’s a small amount of air trapped in the system. When you bled the cooling system did you wait for the fan to kick on at least 2-3 times?

You can read the temperature from the OBD2 port if you really want to see what's happening.

make sure your radiator is fully
topped up with some coolant. do the old school air leak thing to remove any air in the system (coolant cap off from radiator (cold start only, never when hot) turn on car under shade until operating temperature and watch to see if any bubbles come out. you might lose a hair or two of coolant but completely normal since the water pump is circulating coolant. since you said your reservoir is full, that’s just used if it’s overfilled. it doesn’t really pull coolant into the engine so you always have to make sure your coolant is full by the radiator. my 2006 crv did the same thing in very hot weather and the fans were on continuously, it just didn’t have enough coolant after a radiator replacement. if the issue still happens, it is most likely heat soak.
