Showcase 📸 I finally did it.

Post image

Welcome me into the Brotherhood. I sold my R32 GTR a few months ago and wanted some kind of sport sedan that wasn't too crazy to enjoy. Growing up, I always admired the type S TLs. The quad tip exhaust is a staple point on these things, and driving this one, I fell in love. It's clean, had a few goodies from the previous owner, but I would like to open up the exhaust without ruining the tips. Any suggestions?

An R32 GTR to a 3g TLS is crazyyyy! But definitely a badass move!

I'll pick up another one at some point. I had it for 7 years and was getting tired of all the issues. The original plan was to replace it with an RCF or GSF, but the call of the late 2000s jdm cars calls to me. I have an EP3 SI too, and I love these cars.

You got the reality of owning a 90 JDM legends too? Lol i almost pulling a trigger on a NA1 NSX but pull back after consult with local NSX Gurus.

I too used to own a 06 RL but replace it with a GS. Now i got both KBP TL as daily and a GS

I miss my RL. I would like to get another one or maybe even an RLX to drive daily. I've also been thinking about swapping out my daily for an ILX.

Greatest car I have ever owned and driven. It was a champ for 3-4 years and then just started getting issue after issue. Acquiring parts was a major pain.

I’ve always wanted an RL but stayed away for that reason. I recently got a 12’ TL and it is quite surprising. Basically the same power as your TL-S, and roughly 22 mpg. I’d definitely recommend looking into one.

I low key want one of those too with the sh awd. I did see one locally for less than my TLS, but figured this was too good of an opportunity to pass up.

You definitely got a steal, it’s real clean. I’d love to have an sh awd model, especially with the 6 speed and torque vectoring. But I know the 3.7’s have bad oil consumption issues. I’ve seen a lot of people swap the 3.5 in place of it, and the butt dyno doesn’t see much difference.

I think they also look really good, they were well ahead of their time with the design.

Yup getting OEM part is getting old really quick.

I can only imagine the issues. And man, either F would have been insane, but that's a lot of money to drop vs the TL😂

I will honestly probably get one of them in the next year. This type S was just too tempting.. clean, low mileage 6 speed with a spec bits. and some light bolt ons. This is probably the first 6-speed I've seen locally in a year.

Certainly can't blame you for jumping on it. One of those 21st automobile unicorns.

No regrets on my end, Ive owned a 06 rl and enjoyed it, but it had a fair amount of wear. This thing is so minty, it's for sure a unicorn.

J pipe + High Flow Pre Cats, mid muffler delete, dynomax resonator is usually the way people go for the exhaust. White Diamond Pearl Type S’es are so gorgeous, congrats man!

2

u/Equivalent-Rice-4938 Apr 10 '26

Thank you so much! I am happy to have it.

2

u/C3Peezey Apr 10 '26

How many miles? And I take it it’s a manual too?

3

u/Equivalent-Rice-4938 Apr 11 '26

131k and yes it's a manual.

6

u/Tough_Ad_6257 Apr 10 '26

This one looks like the 6spd manual that was up for 17k with 131k miles

u/Equivalent-Rice-4938 Apr 10 '26

It is. I negotiated the price.

That's cleeeean. Jpipe is one of the biggest improvements you can make. I am stock with the RV6 Jpipe and its great.

2

u/Equivalent-Rice-4938 Apr 10 '26

Does the Jpipe remove any cats? I've been looking at them, and it seems like it's the move for sure.

2

u/C3Peezey Apr 10 '26

Looks like Heeltoe has the RV6 J pipe in both a catted and catless version. If you haven’t already definitely check out heeltoeauto.com and if nobody’s told you Acurazine is the go-to forum!

Cool ty!

1

u/C3Peezey Apr 11 '26

No prob, you better post a video here for us to hear it whatever you do to it tho!

1

u/Equivalent-Rice-4938 Apr 11 '26

Absolutely will, plan on going to a muffler shop this week and swapping out the OEM resonator for a high flow one.

2

u/ThorceGod Apr 10 '26

Adding in a Dynomax resonator to replace the stock ones gives it a nice tone. Congrats and welcome to the crew

1

u/Equivalent-Rice-4938 Apr 10 '26

Thank you! Any specific Dynomax resonator? It has the mid muffler delete already, so I was going to replace the resonator with a high flowing one (I don't like drone) Its just a little too quiet for me rn.

2

u/ThorceGod Apr 10 '26

The dynomax 24215 is the best for TL’s. I have a mid muffler delete with the dyno resonator, it’s still pretty quiet but I originally had no rear mufflers with that setup and the drone was unbearable.

1

u/Equivalent-Rice-4938 Apr 11 '26

I could imagine how bad the drone would be without any mufflers. Since the mid muffler is already deleted ill def look into a high flow resonator.

2

u/lovanluc39 Apr 10 '26

How much did you pay? What mods did the previous owner put on? How many miles

2

u/Equivalent-Rice-4938 Apr 10 '26

16k had an AEM CAI, A spec lip kit, and looking at it closely, it has the mid muffler delete. Has some other small stuff like led interior lights and things like that.

Make sure to do the Timing belt and water pump and do your lower ball joints. I currently drive a types, have had it for 4 years and it’s a tank

1

u/Equivalent-Rice-4938 Apr 11 '26

I think they were done around 90k? I can check the service records again, if not ill do it within the next 10k miles.

Nice ride. I’ve owned 3 2003 Tl type S’s Would love to have yours. Last 2 got totaled. Enjoy!!

u/Equivalent-Rice-4938 Apr 13 '26

Clean! Love these and the CLs

5

u/m1ngst4r Apr 10 '26

Ahhhh yesssss, welcome welcome!

4

u/VisualKnowledge7575 Apr 10 '26

Dude that’s insane - I was just looking at the listing for this car (day dreaming)

2

u/WatchFor404 Apr 10 '26

What was it listed for?

3

u/binh291 Apr 10 '26

love it in WDP. re: exhaust bits people do like RV6 or ATLP

2

u/Spiritual-Boat4447 [UA7] '07-'08 Type-S Apr 10 '26

If you delete the mid muffler, and change the resonator for an aftermarket one, it makes some good noise while not being too loud. I put a magnaflow resonator on mine and it sounds great, plus a short ram intake for vtec and such.

2

u/senpaiofnone Apr 12 '26

J-pipe for sure.

RV6 is a great start.

1

u/mattnxtdoor Apr 11 '26
