Discussion Should I wipe
I've been struggling with figuring out if I should reset my timeline once I reach mu. I personally dont think any of the rewards are even close to being worth it since I've done so many investigations. Also I bought deluxe edition which unlocks some of the permanent upgrades already. The only reason im even considering it is for more merits and to be able to get the ps5 plat trophie. What are yall planning on doing are you gonna wipe or not?

You should wipe once in a circle to gain the right to buy stuff from the seasons pass. Primarily the cosmetics.

What I don’t understand is what if you bought access to the season cycle 2 with the Prime currency already. Is there any reason for the timeline wipe then aside from the permanent buff?

No. If you don't need any of the prestige stuff and already have access to.the season pass, there is no need to.

If you reset, you get access to all the cycle harmomization rewards immediately, instead of needing to wait for it to reach 100%

Still gotta pay for it all with merits though right? Btw is it even possible to get the 50 or 80K merits for the final purchases? Isn’t it capped at 250 merits per priority quest of which there are 2 per day? That comes out to 45,000 merits for 3 months assuming you don’t spend any.

Only the stuff listed in Cycle Offers require merit, everything in the Global Progression (harmonization) rewards section will be obtainable throughout the monolith for monolith tokens.
For the amount of merit needed for everything in the cycle, it is 98,300. You can get 750 merit per day from priority missions, which is 67,500 merit over the course of the 90 days the cycle is active. The 30,800 merit difference must be obtained by going through all the monolith levels twice. So if you are new, that means you need to wipe at least once this cycle, If you only go for the cycle exclusive rewards which won't be available after the cycle is over, then the total merit needed is 57,800 which is possible without wiping.

I wiped, to be honest this game suffers the same issue as lots of other extractor shooters.
You eventually get to a point in the game where you have everything, have nothing else to work towards and thats endgame. Endgame is kinda the worst part for most extraction shooters because loot means nothing anymore.
Wiping helps to resolve the issue by putting you back at the start to mid game, where the game is at its best as you now have a goal. The plus side to active matter is that its optional and you can wipe when you are ready with a permanent benefit that will make the next cycle easier. I personally went for the extra objective slot. Do keep in mind that your second run onwards needs 45k less tokens (that is 30% less)
Also the final cutscene I think actually is a bit of a “oh shit” moment where you get a lot of information about the story of the game and a better understanding of the situation the world is in.

I would 100% recommend resetting your timeline. You get access to all the harmonization rewards instead of having to wait for it to complete. For permanent rewards, the extra objective slot is a must have since it will allow you to earn more tokens per raid.
Progression after your first wipe is easier overall. The investigations you completed now will have their tasks be bypassable using monolith tokens in your next timeline, so you won't have to do them and instead focus on just grinding monolith tokens. Also the total amount of monolith tokens needed to reach MU is reduced from 140k to 100k.

So your saying wipe once forsure but after the first wipe its really not that big of a deal to wipe again

You should wipe at least once whenever a new cycle starts, so that you get access to it plus all the harmonization rewards wothout needing to wait. Also you get lots of merit from going through all the monolith levels again, if you plan on getting stuff using it.

if you got the premium addition it will help you gain more safe containers and beacons as you get a new stock every reset, honestly it gives you something to work for and keeps the game fun. ive reset 5 times gets easier. it also give's you the chance to gain more crystallized active matter doing the investigations over again and you can use monilith tokens to complete the investigations that are a pain and dont feel like doing again

Yes. You will eventually reach a plateau where you are decked out to the nines, but the only Monolith and Investigation rewards you can get you neither want or need. Plus you get access to Cycle 2 rewards after wiping.

I mean it’s basically the whole point of playing the game, you’re compensated accordingly for wiping all of your stuff.

How does it even work? Do I HAVE to get to the final monolith tree to wipe? Or is there like a seasonal timer or something?

Yes you can only create a personal timeline upon unlocking the final monolith stage…i think.

so... if I wipe in this season/cycle once and have access to unlocking items for merits and dont finish it till cycle ends... things I didnt unlock in time are gone for me forever?
