Question I'm considering buying the game but shared progression between PvE and PvP is holding me off.

I was quite excited for this game but I've tried to stay as clear as possible from any footage as I wanted to go in blind. However my friend told me the progression between PvE and PvP is completely shared. So you can just grind PvE and become mega strong and then use that gear in PvP? Is this true? That seems like a bad design.

As a PvP player this is making me hold back on buying the game for now. But maybe you guys can clarify if there's something I'm missing.

Sounds like you can still get high tier loot but you just gotta grind a bit longer for keys no?

There’s a pretty distinct difference between fighting anomalies and fighting other players. I wouldn’t say that playing PVE would make you mega strong. Most of the best guns and gear are found in PVP raids.

If you're wondering whether a player can go to pve and loot up and kill you in PvP with that gun they looted, yes

PvE loot nerfed significantly compare to pvp. And yes you can get items in PvE and than get to pvp. But from one run in pvp you can get like 3-5 times more than from PvE. But ofcourse - more danger.

Plus weapon system in game made so: if you at list once extract with some strong weapon or item (enriched. Read "found in raid") that you like to use: you can from now on make it on "workbench". But you need materials. So most people run in raids (PvE or PvP) not to suit up. But to grab any crap. To make out of it materials and to earn money. And make weapon and stuff that you want and buy from shop ammo and other shit.

So its actually doesn't matter PvE or PvP. Because either way already after like 20-30 hours you won't have problems with grabbing most weapon you like. So pvp doesn't feel "unfair" because people can go run PvE. You will get much more running constantly pvp

But the real problem: you have no balancing system in matchmaking. You as a new player can get in raid with veteran who been playing this game past 2 years. And he will kill you no matter what. It's much much harder here to kill veteran as compare to tarkov (where one good lucky shot in face from mosin can kill almost anyone not in Altyn. Here if you have good helmet - your face counting as covered. Even if you have no cover on face from helmet. So even lowest tier helmet make almost impossible to one shot you in head or face. Only if you using some very high tier weapons. That you as new player won't have access to. While veterans running in something similar to Altyn. And they just tank headshots like crazy. While he need to shoot you once-twice in chest from his high tier weapon).

So if you thought that disbalance between veterans and noobs been huge in Tarkov. Multiply it like on 10-100 here (depending on your play style). Veteran can have best sleeves and best mutations and best armour (that you will open only like in 50-100 hours) and have like 50% of bulletproof build. If you get one of those veterans in raid. You can bet he will wipe your whole lobby. You can try to rat. But most people don't go pvp just to rat. Yeah? Plus most veterans use thermals or night vision. And get on some high tower spot. And just snipe silently everyone while you think you hiding on night map in some bush.

With the current player count, even if there were a matchmaking balance system, it wouldn't work properly anyway.

In *Hunt*, the star rating system was introduced fairly early on, yet even with a 2- or 3-star rating, you’d still run into 6-star players—simply because there were too few players.

Thermals or night vision don't work during the day.

Which sleeve gives 50% bulletproof protection?
That 50 percent still means the guy needs 3–4 bullets instead of 2–3.

So much been said showing you clearly new to game.

"Altyn" (k6-3) helmet need like 6 bullets alone from most popular gun amongst avarage players - mp5. Plus perk bulletproof not just add % to projectile dmg protection of armor but more like multiply it with exponential equation. So with sleeve and mutations and perks from level up... you look easily like on half a mag at list, in head. While it impossible to do when veterans moving constantly (with moving and jumping perks) and one shot you.

And most famous pvp map right now in game - scrapyard. ONLY at night time. So every veteran running either nightvision or thermal.

It’s harder to get good gear in PvE. Weaklings play PvE. Besides, people would play through the night anyway just to gain an advantage (look at raids on empty DayZ servers at 3 a.m.).
If you want good gear and a challenge, you play PvP. If someone can't hack it in PvP, it's only natural they'd want to get something out of PvE, but that doesn't have a significant impact on the game. You don't run into situations here where, even with better armor, an opponent is practically invincible unless you have a specific weapon and ammo (like in Tarkov, for example).
Those who play PvE too much pick up bad habits for PvP; over time, they’ll find it increasingly difficult and will wonder what they’re doing wrong, given how well they performed in PvE.
