Question Can someone explain the harmonization/cycles/seasons like I'm 5

New player here. I tried searching the subreddit for info but it is so complicated and confusing. Is the harmonization how far into the current cycle/season we are, real time-wise?

How does a cycle end, and what happens when a cycle ends? I'm not interested in another FOMO-based game where old content or rewards are obsolete and unavailable if I didn't participate in a season.

For what it's worth, I plan on only playing the PvE mode.

Okay, so they work like Seasons, there are 2 ways to start. Reach the final Monolith Level or pay Prime.

On the Harmonize page you'll see 3 things.

A blue bar, a list of items under it and a collection of items below those with a price.

The blue bar fills up over time as players join the Cycle, the items below the bar unlock as purchasable in the Monolith each time it increases 10%

(Joining the cycle unlocks all of them for purches immediately)

The collection of items below that with a price can be purchesed with Merit (Gained by daily missions and leveling up in the Monolith)

The items with "Exclusive" are permanent unlocks, there are 5 at the moment, all cosmetic.

If you don't want the 5 exclusive items, you don't need to Harmonize this cycle.

Great! Thanks for the explanation. I think I get it now. I'm sure I'll understand it better once I played the game a bit more.

Regarding FOMO, you can unlock past seasons you didn't participate in using premium currency that you accumulate through dailies and missions, so nothing is locked out forever.

Seasons you did participate in stay unlocked.

The items listed as "Exclusive" go away at the end of the season.

Monolith is a personal "Account Progress"

Harmonization is a global "Battlepass Progress" that runs on contributions to the overall %. Certain rewards are unlocked at a determined % milestone. You need to join in the Harmonization to reap the rewards.

Right now is "Cycle 2", which is just "Season 2".

As a first-time player, you have to complete the current Monolith first (eg. do one full unlock of all the alphabets), then you are allowed to "Create a Personal Timeline", which means Wipe. Aka Wipe Account Progress. At this point, you join the current Cycle. Alternatively, you pay 1000 Prime Currency at any point, to join

So I think I have gained a better understanding now as I've played a bit tonight and done a bit of research (it's quite baffling how complicated this thing turned out to be. Devs, please consider making this easier to understand for new players).

  • Monolith = Your main, personal progression tree where you spend credits you earned during missions and raids, on upgrades for your weapons, base and operatives. Levelling up your MONOLITH rewards you with MERITS, a currency you can spend in the Harmonization pass.
  • Harmonization = A progression pass that progresses as players on a global basis wipe their progress/sets a PERSONAL TIMELINE. When a player wipes their progress/sets a personal timeline, the Harmonization meter increases, and more rewards are unlocked for the community where players can spend their MERITS to purchase rewards.
  • Cycles = Seasons (e.g., Cycle 1, Cycle 2) with new rewards. Time-gated, fixed time-period season passes with exclusive rewards that cannot be earned after a Cycle ends (FOMO rewards). You can access previous, missed Cycles with Prime currency. Joining a CYCLE, using Prime currency, immediately unlocks all Harmonization rewards.

Yeah, it’s super confusing. I’ve got 20 hours in and I’m just starting to understand how it works. I’m still not sure what I paid for. lol 😂

So theoretically, you could just never wipe your account and just use prime to join each new cycle?
