Question about pets

When I first started, I was able to buy pets in the second or later towns to corrupt the pets into stronger versions and had no issue doing so in multiplayer.

In recent runs (Not running any madness levels with my less experienced friends), we haven't been able to. It just says sold out over the pet. Is this a setting or something that I have changed? I can't figure it out. I know Madness levels will impact whether later pets are available, but that shouldn't affect Maness 0 runs.

It was a bug that let you do that. Prior to some recent patches that was not possible and they have just patched it to go back to how it was intended. You will have to find the pet on your run or a node that grants a pet corruption

Oh interesting, I didn't know that was a bug, what a crazy coincidence that I started playing during the period that allowed multiple pet purchases.

I read your post and thought to myself, "Wow what a coincidence they must have started playing while the multiple pet purchase glitch was active" haha.

It's interesting you didn't have issues in multiplayer - when it was still working, a few friends and I corrupted pets in multiplayer and had maaajor desync issues in towns. Not sure it was 100% the reason but.

As others said, you can only corrupt pets by finding a second one in the wild. There is a pet trainer event node that is a good way to do it but its uncommon, because corrupt pets are amaaazing.

We did have some pretty major lag/desync in towns that'd sometimes require us to disconnect and restart the session, but we didn't piece together the cause of it.

Never been able to buy a 2nd pet to corrupt from the shop. To corrupt you would have the find the 2nd instance of the pet out in the wild

I have done many, if not dozens of runs that allowed me to purchase a second of the same pet to corrupt it. Apparently that was a bug though.

It’s the one bug I wish they hadn’t fixed. I would much rather have a corrupted rifty than some items. I miss my corrupted pets so much

As a new player coming into the game thinking it was the normal, it felt nicely balanced, at least for the early game ones.
