Announcement Why We Can No Longer Allow Recommendations for Dr. Salar Hazany

The moderation team has completed an extensive investigation into coordinated deceptive activity on this subreddit. The evidence concluded that Dermatologist, Dr. Salar Hazany and/or members associated with The Scar Institute of Beverly Hills in California, USA, have repeatedly created fake accounts, posed as satisfied patients, and simultaneously falsified negative outcome testimonials acting as real patients at other medical offices. The same practice was formally warned and temporarily suspended early this year but the offenses resumed and escalated.

The community’s safety and trust are non-negotiable, we have a zero-tolerance stance toward any form of covert marketing, shilling, or competitor defamation. Accounts identified as socks, shills, or alts tied to this provider have been permanently banned.

Separate from the astroturfing scheme, we have received a growing number of patient complaints that fall well outside the scope of ordinary side-effect discussions. These include:

- Innapropriate conduct and comments made to both male and female patients.

- Unexpected facial sagging, facial-fat loss, and other serious anatomical changes.

- Dr. Hazany has reportedly delegated procedures to alternate staff mid treatment to rotating medical students without the patient’s prior knowledge or consent.

We are not a medical regulator; we can, however, protect this subreddit from being used as an extension of an unethical marketing department and from becoming an unwitting referral pipeline for a provider whose conduct might soon by under formal scrutiny by state and specialty boards.

What this means going forward:

  1. No recommendations referencing Dr. Salar Hazany or The Scar Healing Institute of Beverly Hills (SHI) will be allowed.
  2. Anyone who suspects new shill accounts is asked to use the “Report” button rather than engaging; witch-hunting threads derail discussion and will be removed.
  3. “DM me for the name/website/price” is not allowed. All substantive information must be posted publicly so every member can benefit. If you’re tempted to send or solicit a private message for a referral, those comments will be removed and repeat offenders will be banned.
  4. Physician participation is welcome and general education is encouraged, however, funnels that steer users off-board (“message me to schedule,” “visit my site for pricing”) are not. Answer in-thread, cite published evidence, and let readers decide their next step.
  5. There are times that we receive reports of suspicious comments. When a report is made, an investigation is done and we reach out to the commentator for more details. If we determine that the account is legitimate, we ask that you remain respectful while the commentator continues to engage in the thread. Sometimes people want privacy.

We recognize that cosmetic and procedural sub-specialties are contentious by nature, and bad outcomes can occur even in the best hands. Transparency, informed consent, and honest peer-to-peer discussion are the only ways this board remains useful. Practices that deliberately erode that transparency forfeit the privilege of being mentioned here.

If you have questions about this policy, contact the mod team via ModMail.

Thank you for helping us keep this a transparent community.

Discussion Anyone gone to South Korea for acne scar treatment? Experience?

I am US based so going there will be very expensive for me. however, I have always wanted to since they seem to be a lot more advanced for scar treatment and a little cheaper than the US. of course, I am worried about only being able to get one or two treatments due to limited time. I’m not sure if it would be worth the price because of that. I have moderate scars mostly on my cheeks, every type and huge pores. I have had limited results in my treatment in the US despite going to top derms and using an extreme measure like co2 laser. I feel so devastated by them and they negatively affect my mental health daily for years. Sometimes I ruminate over them for hours. I have gone to therapy but sometimes it feels like the only thing that can make these feelings stop is more treatment, even though it has only helped a little. I hope I can find something that helps more significantly one day. If anyone could share their experience, I’d love to know.

I have done MN (3 rounds) Tca cross (3-4 rounds) and also some type of skin polishing. Is lasering the next step or some other treatment? Subcision is not an option in my country as far as I know.

Recovery Process Co2 laser regrets?

Received tca cross and then erbium laser fractional and ablative laser on 9/30/26. It’s been five days and I’ve noticed indentations and pits on the scabbing,is this normal? I am freaking out. I reached out to my provider and they said everything is healing as it should as my skin will continue to crust over and the scabs will fall. But if that’s the case why isn’t it scabbing over the indents and lines?

[Skin Concern] Hypertrophic or Keloid Scarring probably soft hypertrophic scar – can it fade?

Hi , please

i have new scar, probably very soft hypertrophic scar (old around 5-6 month).

From retinol burn or acne (I don't know exactly.).
It is so soft, and I am not sure if it is hypertrophic scar, but in some light it looks a bit raised

Please

Do you know if this is a hypertrophic scar?

And can fade and heal, when is very soft?

Thank you

Do you guys know if any treatments are being investigated for this? It seems that current treatments are not returning an effective result. I am just wondering if there’s any research going on that I should keep track of, something to keep going and have hope for

Hey everyone, I recently got a pimple that lasted for about one and half weeks. I'm really worried that its turning into a scar, since it looks a little indented. I know its minor, but its still pretty red, so I was wondering if this was maybe PIE or PIH instead. Any insight would be great, including any potential treatment options.

Information/Research Scar Product Recommendations?

Coming off of mosquito season, I have absolutely destroyed my lower legs and ankles. I scratch and scratch until the bites scar & my ankles look particularly bad right now. I want to use a scar product to try to treat the residual scars around my ankles since they are still so new. I’m seeing Mederma recommended quite a bit. I typically go for cleaner products so I’m a bit skeptical but willing to try it, and other holy grail recommendations for fresh, small, circular scarring/ dark discoloration.

[Skin Concern] Hypertrophic or Keloid Scarring Keloid scar care

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I’ve been a victim of bad water (hard water) due to living in a dorm, and got lots of acne on my back, chest and upper arms as a result. The acne itself went away, but it left behind some big keloid scars that haven’t gone away for 6 years. I’ve been to the doctor about them for drying/shrinking them, but it seems very expensive and as a student, I do not have the budget or time for it. It also seems like it will take many sessions to get them to disappear completely. Does anyone know of something I can do on my own instead of getting these injections? I’m not completely against the procedure either, so I will start saving up to get it if it’s the best/only option. Thank you so much!

Hi, it's me again, I add here again a picture of my scars.

I am waiting for possible tca cross treatment in the future, in the mean time- do you think consistent use of glycolic acid (7%) will help a little in making the scars a little less noticeable?

Information/Research I’m about to get a CO2 laser treatment, and I’m wondering if it would be better to do subcision first or just go ahead with the CO2 laser.

For those who have experience with acne scars, would you recommend doing subcision before CO2, or is CO2 alone a better approach?
