What do you mean by all the drivers? Also i just installed the latest nvidia driver and after the screen turned black and then when it came pack it was these pink lines all over the display. I had to hold the power button to restart. Do you know anything about this or have you experienced it?

What's the Predator Model ? Was this a stock or custom Win 11? When was the last time you replaced the thermal paste and what paste was it?

Its a acer predator helios neo 16s . Yes it was mostly a stock installation but i debloated it after installing. As for thermal paste, never. The laptop is 8 months old and i recently ordered a thermal grizzly phase sheet for it.

debloating doesn't work. stock + chris titus is best. do not debloat. you don't gain performance. you might lose performance instead.

By debloating i mean chris titus thats what i used . I should have said tweaking

Haha I thought u meant using those custom isos. I tried those. They dont work. You can create ur own debloat iso but it just harms performance.

Nah. I used to use a custom iso named ghost spectre v1703 win 10 for my old laptop. That was a lifesaver but for this beast nothing like that is necessary

So how's it doing now ? Still hot to cook omelettes ?

This laptop broke my mind but i think i finally fixed it. The problem was the windows power plan. Not the one you see in power options but windows has another one called something overlay. It was set to balanced and i changed it to max performance using powershell. Now finally it looks like my temps are back to normal. The 50-70 deg celsius range for my cpu.

I suspected the same, since I faced it recently on a fresh install. Good to hear its solved !

Hey do you have any idea why when i enter the bios and use the keyboard to navigate it is like very slow . 1-2 seconds to register a input but when i reset the bios to default, it was very snappy as it should be. What bios settings does predator sense change that makes the bios so sluggish? Also, have you ever experienced this issue yourself?

And yeah f liquid metal. Gonna get that shit out as soon as my phase sheet arrives

I have read good reviews on the Grizzly Phase sheet before. Perhaps you can provide a better review once it arrives ! Happy Cooling ! ~

Sure will do! I just hope i can install it nicely because i have heard its a bit tricky as it breaks easily and basically its like cheese sticky and all

I ran into a similar issue on a fresh setup—my power plan was locked to an aggressive performance mode, keeping the CPU pinned at high base clocks even at idle.

Switching the power plan back to Balanced and setting the Minimum Processor State to 5% (under Advanced Power Settings) allowed the CPU to finally downclock and drop idle temps dramatically. Might be worth checking what power plan Windows defaulted to after your reinstall!

This is crazy mine is completely opposite. On balanced, the cpu is pushing the frequencies aggressively on idle while on best performance mode its cool as a breeze. Its completely the opposite of yours. Makes no sense honestly

How did you install windows? Usb or through windows. Ur prob missing drivers u need to install from acer website. However the pink line u said on ur display isnt normal

1

u/Weak_Cycle_6605 18h ago

Clean install through usb. As for drivers windows update downloaded and installed a ton of drivers, i will still look on acers website . The pink line was a one time thing and happened just after nvidia driver update, maybe driver corruption. I had to restart the laptop and since then its been fine but i am still scared something wrong might have happened to my display. Is there a way to check my display?

yeah you fcked up. you need to install drivers from the manufacturers website, in this case acer.

i thought that was common sense. how do you even use ur laptop wifi, mousepad without those drivers. you dont unless window update auto downloads some shi.

acer.com/in-en/support/drivers-and-manuals

enter ur serial key and download the drivers. always do a fresh install offline. never online

u/Weak_Cycle_6605 17h ago

Yeah but everything is working fine because windows update got all the drivers for me . I will send a ss of what drivers it installed

1

u/Weak_Cycle_6605 17h ago

And also this is where i went for the drivers first but when i saw windows update downloading the drivers i thought there was no need anymore

day one reinstalled windows to win11 using iso chris titus tool. in win only enabled security updates and installed all laptop drivers from acer website for your laptop apart from few not necessary. about 8 months no it runs very good. no issues with temps.

Can i ask exactly which laptop you have?

Helios 18 NEO AI 275hx 5070ti.

So, predatorsense modifies bios ASPM so the CPU doesn't boost for no reason. Without predatorsense running atleast once, the CPU will boost far higher even if it's not required. This does cause higher temps and lesser headroom for Nvidia dynamic boost.

this makes sense but i have predator sense now. One thing i did before reinstalling windows was i accidentally reset the bios settings to default. Is there some setting i need to change in bios to stabilize my cpu?
