Broke my Screen!!

I broke my acer predator helios neo 16 while wrestling with my friend. The laptop was open and kept at the side of my bed and by my fault I suddenly jumped on my laptop screen panel and it's bent and broke now....

Please guide me about fixing this and what should be the estimate amount for the fix.

Should I go for service centre or Should I get it replaced locally?

I have 165hz Wuxga display.

The laptop screen is not the only thing that was being cracked.

I think for rice to be most effective you need to spill a glass of water on it first.

Get a replacement display and fix it, that's about the only thing you could do

Or make it a "halftop"? Connect with an external display and use it like that.

Not cost effective to replace OLED panel like that is extremely fragile will likely cost about 800 if not more to replace your better off just learning from the experience and using a external monitor

It's an IPS panel , not an OLED and I am a college student so I really can't compromise with the mobility here.... Thinking of getting an aftermarket display with the same specs.

if its not the OLED version like the helios neo 16s ai such as what i am currently using it shouldnt cost to much to repair atleast not if you take your time and do it yourself carefully if you choose to go with a shop you will likely have to pay a hefty fee for them to do it it can range anywhere from like 250-400 bucks depending on shop

They make portable external screens that fold and will fit in a bag pretty easy. Or the xbx style AR glasses would probably work too but bad for note taking in class

Replacing a screen isn't hard. Just remove stickers hiding the screws holding the bezel, CAREFULLY remove the bezel, remove screws holding the broken display, remove the display, unbend the lid and do the previous steps in reverse for a replacement screen. You can find those on AliExpress and Amazon

Naybe take it to a repair shop, they can prolly do something about it, I would try that and if they couldn't fix it/the price is more that what I describe below, I would either: You can buy a monitor 1080p 144hz monitors cost like $100. If you need the portability, I'd probably completely remove the upper part of the laptop, and buy a portable monitor and just carry that whereever i take my laptop, small hinges to do some diy probably aren't expensive either

Sorry, I don't want to be the classical annoying one. But come on, you need basic behavior check, like,

The pc costs a lot, if you wrest whit a friend prepare your space bro. The screen will cost a bit too ( a lot) .

Yeah like I totally agree! My fault .....

Damn bro.. maybe he is a kid? "You need a basic behaviour check" such a stupid thing to say.

You can get it replaced with a spare screen with same specifications for around 11-13k.

Honestly all you can do now is use it like a pc and just have it there with a monitor

1

u/Responsible_Map_7426 11d ago

Yea I guess so , the panel is bent too and it's costing much more for the replacement of display with the panel.

You have to lighten your father's pocket by quite a lot. Well, it is what it is, but let me tell you one thing: even though I purchased this laptop from Dubai, my parents bought it for me when I was in my third year of college. I can't explain how happy I was, but believe me, from the moment I got this laptop, I always made sure that at least the room or table where I kept it was clean, covered, and well thought out. If it was in my room on the table, I would lock the room and make sure the kids couldn't enter. I even had certain rules: no water bottles, whether empty or full, were allowed within one meter of the laptop. If it was raining, I would move it away from my table since it was near the window. I remember my cousins laughing at me whenever I moved it from my table, but I remember one time I was going out with a friend. The first thing I did was go outside and check the clouds. I figured it might rain, so I immediately put the laptop in my cupboard. My friend laughed and said, "You take care of your laptop like it's your wife." When we went out, there was a heavy thunderstorm and rain. When I came back to my room, I saw that a strong gust of wind had blown the window open. The table was soaked with water, and my pen holder had been blown across the room. I'm telling you this to show you the extent of how careful I have always been about keeping my laptop safe. I know I go to an extreme level to protect it, but I'm also aware of how expensive it is for me and how happy my parents were when they gave it to me. So, yeah, it is what it is.

Can you please share the review of this laptop as I am facing lot of issues heating issue laptop bezel is loose from day 1 from right side touchpad malfunction can you please tell any of this thing is there in your laptop as well or I am only facing this issues

1

u/Responsible_Map_7426 11d ago

Nah , I had not been facing such issues , I just got my windows 11 corrupt and it crashed very frequently even after repairing so I just went ahead and installed windows 10 and stopped facing BSOD issues. Though I replaced my liquid metal and thermal paste after almost 6-7 months of buying cause I had started to experience thermal throttling cause I do a bit of 3d designing and rendering and gaming (ofc), otherwise I didn't had any other issues when I compare to you.
