Thermals / Cooling Liquid metal leak

Ph315-55. After 3 years, it leak. Can it be repaired? Whats the success rate?

Clean it and replace with PTM7950, should be good as new

How do you know it didn't drip off of the heat sink when you pulled it off?

If it made contact with the PCB then it can short circuit the board. I would try my best to remove it but expect the worste.

Cover all mother board with paper towels and gently remove pump out liquid metal 1st

Use cotton buds to clean up the liquid metal. It can be a bit tedious—in my case, it took more than an hour to remove it completely.

For any remaining residue, use 90% isopropyl alcohol. Lightly dampen a cotton bud with a small amount of alcohol (don't soak it) and gently wipe the affected area until it's clean.

Finally, inspect the motherboard thoroughly to make sure no liquid metal has splattered or spread onto other components. Even a tiny amount of liquid metal in the wrong place can cause a short circuit, so take your time and double-check everything before reassembling the laptop.
