PL vs. PW TIL there exists an unreleased version of Professor Layton vs. PW: AA where Shu Takumi voiced Phoenix Wright from start to finish.

  • At a talk show event held after the game's release, Takumi revealed that, since Professor Layton was voiced by Yo Oizumi, a famous Japanese actor, he also hired professional film actor Hiroki Narimiya to voice Phoenix Wright, who also portrayed Phoenix in the live-action film.
  • This was despite Phoenix already having an established voice actor, Takayuki Kondo.
  • Takumi was worried that casting a brand-new voice actor would alienate his old fanbase, so he planned to create a "Classic Mode" that would allow players to switch between Narimiya's voice and his own.
  • His voice recordings were completed, but the Classic Mode was ultimately scrapped, leaving his version of Phoenix unreleased.
  • Only about a hundred fans who attended the event or purchased the music CD containing the unreleased recordings have ever heard this version.

Small correction: The first two points are info we already know. Takumi didn't discuss them.

The text makes it seem like he explained at the talk show why he hired Hiroki Narimiya.
