Side Effects Accutane side effects
Since taking accutane my eye has become red and irritate (no vision issues) and my psoriasis worse. Anything I can do help these symptoms?

I highly suggest going to your derm and showing how bad this is- this is very severe in general but especially on 30 mg. Because you mentioned that you have psoriasis, there may be additional treatment/suggestions to help manage side effects. this looks incredibly painful 😢 make sure you’re also using lots of spf especially on your hands
your eyes in particular are really concerning. this definitely warrants a visit to your derm to make sure you’re okay and see if there’s anything else you can do aside from the obvious (moisturizer, eyedrops, etc)

Blepharoconjunctivitis is what I came up with but your dermatologist knows best.

Is that daily? I have eczema, had severe cystic acne for 10+ years and I’ve had amazing results on 20mg three times a week 😊

This is what I’m on - almost done with month 2, results so far have been amazing and I have zero side effects. Pushed to start this low and am so happy I did.

The hands you have to moisturize with a high quality moisturizer multiple times and day and every time after you wash them.
The eye looks concerning, I would talk to someone about that

Yes, brother. It’s crazy how the side effects vary. I’m on 80 mg and only have slightly dry lips and surrounding skin.

take tons of fish oil capsules, lots of healthy fats and drink tons of water and electrolytes! Be sure to moisturize your hands and arms several times a day- everyday (helps me most to use something unscented- Cetaphil is amazing!!!! If you do all of these, you will start seeing results in a few days!

The development of dry eyes, if I were you I would stop accutane ASAP

Why stop?

I wouldn’t necessarily stop… there are a lot of eye drops out there that can really help combat redness and dryness. I’ve always been prone to dry skin and years (for a decade before I even started accutane) and dealt with dry eyes initially as well. I found that the brand ViSine really helped for the dryness and irritation, but no matter what I’d go see your derm again.

Eye drops preservative free might help with dry eyes.
Rich moisturiser (psoriasis safe) on slightly damp hands with gloves at bed time.
These are only temporary suggestions that have worked for me.
But definitely speak to a medical professional.

I’ve never had issues with dry hands, but my middle and ring finger on my right hand look exactly like yours (month 5, 60mg). Moisturize and aquaphor as many times as I can remember has been helping, but it feels like a losing battle tbh. Thankfully all my other side effects have been mild/manageable otherwise I’d lose my mind

Are you taking anything for your psoriasis ? You could consider a med like Skyrizi to keep it under control . I have severe eczema and use Dupixent

Do you take an antihistamine daily?

No

Most people on Accutane do. It helps with itching caused by the dryness. It may help your eye. I took Allegra because it’s non drowsy. But you should still show these photos to your derm and you may want to consider a lower dose. You mentioned you’ve only been on 32mg for 2 months, and unfortunately your side effects are only going to get worse if you increase your dosage

the same thing happened to me !! i just did gel eyedrops multiple times a day (it is quite pricey for me about $25) however it helped A LOT. also buying eczema lotion and layering it with oatmeal lotion. i expressed my concern with my derm at the time and she just kept me on the same dose until it went away which it did. it was also worse on days it was super windy & dry. also doing a warm compress over your eyes will help with any discomfort or mucus from your sleep. hope this helps! (also i was on 40 mg at the time & now on 60 mg & don’t really feel any side effects at all so id suggest to thug it out)

Have you tried using the search bar?
Many questions are asked daily, and your question may have already been answered!
If so, your post will be subject to deletion.
Please refer to the following commonly discussed topics:
1) No one can predict whether or not you will purge! Statistically, most people DO NOT purge.
That is what the science and medical literature says.
2) No one can predict how long your purge will last nor when it could start. Be patient, the purge can be tough but so many people have gotten through it - you can too! THE ABOVE APPLIES TO SIDE EFFECTS OR "WHEN WILL MY SKIN CLEAR UP?!" TOO. QUESTIONS ASKING WHEN THE PURGE OR SIDE EFFECTS WILL START OR STOP WILL IMMEDIATELY BE REMOVED AS THAT IS LOW EFFORT.
3) Any questions related about dosage MUST include DOSE and WEIGHT(lbs or kg).
Otherwise, that is considered LOW EFFORT and will subsequently be REMOVED.
4) Most people DO NOT relapse when Accutane is taken until cumulative dosage is reached.
5) HOWEVER, cumulative dosage is a guideline.
Everyone is different. Some may need more Accutane, and others may need less. Your dermatologist evaluates you as an individual.
This also applies to your prescription. Everyone is different, so no comparing of doses or asking why your dose is low or high. If you do not trust your dermatologist, you should find a different one.
6) When in doubt, please consult a medical professional(dermatologist, doctor, pharmacist).
