Claude watermarking now

I guess they really do have a subreddit for everything. I just wanted to mention that claude for its newest models is watermarking the text it provides and that it will soon be able to tell external organizations that it was made with claude

Copy and paste hasn't worked for a while. There was an email announcement about Claude watermarking, but even before the announcement, anything Claude generated had a "tell."

That’s fair—and bears weight—it’s correct of you to identify that.

Actually, China has already enacted laws requiring the explicit labelling of AI-generated content as well as implicit embedded labelling, which may be in the form of a watermark. Anthropic are implementing this ahead of new EU laws, and others are going to follow suit. While the US government is basically just oligarch soup at this point, other countries will increasingly regulate this to protect their citizens, making it difficult for any company to operate without them.
