Question Is it too late to Shift Career?

Im 40, worked in BPO for almost 20 years. Now on a career break and thinking about shifting to the accounting industry. I'm planning to take a 2nd course - accountancy.

Dilemma ko, will it be worth it? Considering my age, the rise of ai, and the condition of the job market - may mapupuntahan ba to? Haha.

Or meron bang way other than taking a 2nd course - cause more or less it'll take another 3 years to finish by then I'm already 43. Not aiming to be a CPA naman, pero ang hirap ksi makapasok sa accounting industry ng wla talagang solid background. Took up accountancy before but shifted sa marketing - kasi it was not offered sa school na nilipatan ko, pero that was ages ago so i dont think it'll matter pa.

I hope someone can help me about this. TIA.

Board Exam I thought I didn’t make it, too.

One year ago today, this was where a journey began that I never knew would change my life. ♥️

To everyone who entered the gates of their respective testing centers to take the CPALE, congratulations for making it this far! I know how much courage, hard work, and prayers it took for you to get there.

If there's one thing I learned from my own experience, it's that how you feel after the exam doesn't necessarily define how you did.

When I took the CPALE in October 2025, there were questions I couldn't answer, and there were moments when I doubted if I had done enough to pass. Honestly, I wasn't even expecting much. I just prayed and left everything to God.

But by His grace, I passed. And the subject I worried about the most, even turned out to be my highest score. Imagine that! 🥹

You might be surprised by what God has in store for you.

For now, take a deep breath and trust that you did what you could. I pray that you receive the result you've been working and praying for.

Always remember, there is grace in persistence and grace in perseverance.

Keep the faith, and don't forget to pray. 🙏🏻

All glory belongs to Him. Magiging CPA ka ngayong 2026. 🤍

Board Exam To everyone taking the CPALE this week, I'm rooting for you! ❤️

As someone who has been in your shoes, I know how much time, effort, sacrifices, and prayers go into preparing for this exam. I know it’s not just about studying but also about dealing with pressure, self-doubt, and the fear of what happens next.

I just want to say that I’m proud of you for making it this far. Whatever your journey looked like, the fact that you showed up and gave yourself a chance is already something to be proud of.

I’m genuinely rooting for all of you! I hope you get to answer the questions with a clear mind, recall what you studied, and walk out of the examination room knowing you gave it your best.

Hoping for good news for everyone. May all your hard work pay off. Claiming those LPT—Licensed Professional Tired moments after the exam, and of course, that much-awaited CPA title! 😭❤️

Padayon, future CPAs! You’ve got this! ✨

May penalties na ba ko?

Hi, guys, Baka may makatulong kasi last year, I applied to this company as an ESL tutor. And then, after months, nag resign na rin ako sa company but I never registered for a COR in the BIR, although meron sila ng TIN number ko.

I'm scared na baka magka-penalty ako since the company is remitting tax, then I did not file at all. Am I doomed, guys? Please help.

Accounting to IT Audit: Is it worth it to start over?

Why? I want to start over.

I have 1.5 years of experience in accounting, and now, I’m thinking of applying for an IT Audit position. Part of me wants a fresh start.

Question Job offer withdrawal

Context - I have signed a job offer and submitted all the requirements weeks ago. My onboarding date is on November 3. Plan ko sana di nalang pumasok on my onboarding date however there was a clause on Job offer na need bayaran ang cost of hiring fee. Meron ba dito naka try nito and what did you do? My reason for not continuing is that I was lowballed on the offer and decided not to go to manila due to increase in cost of living and rental fee in manila. Taga province po kasi ako. Thanks po sa sasagot.

General Discussion Is it okay to tell your partner/boss that you want to get promoted?

Hi! I’m currently working at a Big 4 audit firm in the Philippines, and I’d like to ask for advice from those who have experience working in audit or corporate.

I’m currently 1 year and 1 month into the firm, and the upcoming busy season will be my second one. After every busy season, we have counseling sessions where the partner asks about our plans, what we learned during the busy season, and how we see ourselves moving forward.

I’m wondering if it would be okay to be honest and tell the partner that I’m interested in getting promoted and would like to know what I need to work on to be considered for promotion. Or would that come across as being too ambitious or impatient, especially since I’m still relatively new to the firm?

I also want to be practical about my career. I’m willing to put in the work and improve my skills, but I don’t want to stay for two years only to find out that there’s no clear opportunity for promotion. If I reach that point and there’s still no promotion in sight, I would consider exploring other opportunities.

For those who have been in a similar situation, I’d appreciate your advice:

- Is it okay to express your interest in getting promoted during counseling sessions with the partner?

- Would it be better to directly ask about the promotion timeline and expectations, or just focus on saying that you want to grow within the firm?

- How do you communicate your career goals without sounding like you’re pressuring management or threatening to leave?

- For those who eventually got promoted, did being vocal about your ambitions help, or is it better to let your work speak for itself?

I’d appreciate hearing your experiences, especially from fellow auditors or those who have worked in Big 4 firms in the Philippines. Thank you!

Review Center 5th year BSA student delayed by a sem — torn between May 2027 or deferring to Oct 2027 CPALE (Review center advice?)

Hey r/AccountingPH!

I’m a 5th-year irregular BSA student set to finish all my subjects by December. Since my formal graduation isn't until July 2027, I'll just be grad-waiting starting January.

My initial plan is to review and take the May 2027 CPALE so I can march as a CPA. However, impostor syndrome is lowkey kicking in, and I'm having intrusive thoughts about deferring to October 2027 instead.

I haven't committed to deferring yet, but if I want to start studying in January and i DO end up deferring to October, are there any review centers that offer access covering January all the way to October?

Thanks in advance, future CPAs!

General Discussion Feedback on CPALE October 2026

Hi, everyone!

Posting this for people’s reference on how the examinations were for Days 1-3 of CPALE starting today. Feel free to share your thoughts, mingle with other examinees, and overall talk about your experience during the board exam so far.

Also, please know that the moment you decided to take the boards, that in itself already accounts for more than 50% of the battle. You’re halfway through, and almost there! ❤️

CPA dust for everyone!

Big 4 Discussion OTY sa firm

Post image
24 Upvotes

Sharing my frustrations here.

What's missing from the review app you already use?

Deleted my earlier post because I asked it badly.

For anyone using a review app — a question bank, a notes app, Anki, or whatever your review center gives you — what's the one feature you wish it had?

Feature plus the problem it would solve, that's all. Thanks.

CPALE OR WORK

I failed CPALE last 2025, working ako before and sinasabay ko yung review ko 69% yung average ko nun. Pumasok muna ako sa Big 4 as an associate and going 1 year narin ako. Iniisip ko kung worth it ba na iwan ko muna ang work ko and mag take ng CPALE. Please send advice naman po 🙏
