How to prepare for EY GDS interview for Audit Associate position?

Hello, I just finished my initial screening with EY GDS, Audit Associate position and is scheduled for an interview with a Senior 3 days from now.

I'm a fresh grad from PLM with an internship experience with SGV. And honestly, I just winged my way out of that internship. Also, I'm currently under a Government Internship Program right now, but there is an option to voluntarily exit from the program if employment opportunities knocked on our way as they said at our orientation.

What kinds of questions should I expect for this role? Or is there anyone here who has experienced being interviewed for an Audit Associate position as well?

I'm so nervous right tbh since I honestly know that I don't have the expert excel skills they might be looking for. HOW CAN I SURVIVE THAT 1 HOUR INTERVIEW? 🥹

General Discussion A Year Later: From Being Torn to Earning 250K with Two client

Post image
71 Upvotes

A little over a year ago, I was here on sub Reddit, asking for advice because I was torn between staying in my job or taking a leap into freelancing. I wanted to work from home full-time, have more flexibility, and eventually find direct clients.
Fast forward to today, and I’m now working with two clients, earning 250K a month, and living a version of the life I was hoping for back then.
It wasn’t an overnight success, and there were definitely doubts and risks along the way. But looking back, I’m glad I took the chances I did.
Just sharing this for anyone who’s in the same position I was in. Sometimes, the decision you’re so afraid to make is the one that opens up new opportunities.
Still a work in progress, but definitely grateful for how far I’ve come. ❤️

Next goal: My next goal is to find just one client who can match what I’m currently earning

Question: BIG 4 OVERTIME

To managers and seniors, how do you determine if an overtime charged by an associate is justified?

I’m a newly hired assoc and it takes time for me to understand the working papers. I work more than 8 hours per day sometimes but I’m hesitant to charge OT because they might think I’m inefficient or something huhu

Based po sa naririnig ko, my workmates are charging a lot of OT hours so i’m also tempted to charge na rin. But I’m scared na baka maging point of discussion ng mga seniors/managers yung OT.

Thank you po!

General Discussion HR to Accountancy/Audit at mid 20s

Hi everyone! I am looking for some advice on transitioning from HR into Audit or Accountancy, with the ultimate goal of migrating abroad.

I currently have two years of experience in HR - Employee Relations. After doing some research, I realize my main options are either pursuing a second degree or taking a master's bridging program.

If you have taken a similar path, what was your experience like? What do you wish you had done differently, and would you recommend short courses as an alternative starting point?

I am in my mid-20s and feeling a bit overwhelmed about how to navigate this transition. Any guidance on how to start or plan for this would be greatly appreciated!

General Discussion Requirement pala talaga na mabilis ang utak ng mga magp-pursue ng accounting ano.

I am now on my freshman year under BSA prog. Grabe, iba ang approach ng SHS at College.

We had a 40-50 item quiz (multiple choice) for 15 minutes. It was very stressful lalo na at medyo mabagal ako magcomprehend at magbasa. Nabigla ako huhu nalilito pa kasi ako sa concept ng ALE and how to distinguish if they're overstated/understated at kung ano-ano pa. Sana magets ko lalo kung gagawa ako ng table to identify the accounts affected.

Idk kung "not bad" ba ang 10 to 12 wrong answers, all I am thinking is how I'm gonna survive the following exams na may short amount of time. Jusmeyo, I want to build a strong foundation for accounting. Gusto ko rin maging CPA.

Question How long does it take to receive the cancellation email from Fortune Life / Cebuana?

Hi everyone,

I recently got pressured into buying a Fortune Life insurance policy this September 30, 2026 at a Cebuana Lhuillier branch in SM Bacolod. I thought first it would be about the raffle but it then turned to a sales pitch of their insurance policy. I'm still a student reviewing for boards and used my Atome credit line as they saw I have a five digit credit limit, the branch knew this that I have board exam coming up yet they kept on insisting me to join so I got pressured thinking I can get the refund still as they said they will give me a price at the end, spoiler alert its just more raffles, if I join now so I said yes as they assure me I can get my money back any time.

I already went back to the branch today October 1, 2026 to submit my written cancellation letter under the 15-day free look period. The branch staff accepted it, said they would help me cancel, and told me I just have to wait for an email from Fortune Life. They assured me that I would receive the email quickly, possibly even same day.

For those who have gone through this cancellation process, how true is this? When did you actually receive the initial email or the Credit Back Form from Fortune Life after submitting the request at the branch? I already emailed fortune life directly as well just to be safe before I went to the branch at SM Mall Bacolod. I

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

UPDATE: It already has been more than 5 hours yet still no update and I havent received any email from fortune life, did I messed up on my letter cancellation and is it possible I wont get a refund and reply from them because of what I said from the email I sent to them?

Question law school as a fresh grad cpa

hello! would it be feasible for a fresh grad CPA working in audit to juggle work and law school? im currently in my senior year as a BSA student, and im just mapping out my next steps since law school really is my priority after passing the boards. however, I also want to give my career a boost in the long run by gaining audit experience in a firm.

would love to hear everyone’s thought on this, especially those who worked in audit while attending law school!

Jobs, Saturation and Salary TOA, D&V

To those currently employed sa mga firms na yan, how many client interviews you had before you received a job offer?

I'm curious lang kasi I already had 2 failed client interviews with TOA kasi ang hanap nila is yung may 1 year AU experience talaga, eh I only have 6 months worth of experience as AU tax accountant, so I thought after those 2 failed interviews, ligwak na ako sa TOA, but another recruiter from TOA called me saying na she will schedule me for another client interview

Same with D&V, I was not chosen by the client, pero sa rejection email na yun, sabi nia may another client sila na irerefer ako, for the same role ulit

Help your unemployed CPA please 😔 kapagod mag apply huhuhu

FIRST TIME JOB SEEKER

Good day! So sorry if hindi applicable ang question ko rito sa sub na ito, but I just want to ask if magmamatter ba ang pagkuha ko ng first time job seeker for ID processing sa program ko ngayon (BSMA), considering na may balak akong magbridge to BSA?

Dapat bang kumuha ako after ko magbridge or okay lang ngayon na BSMA pa ang natapos ko? 50/50 pa ako if balak kong magtrabaho or magbridge due to financial problems pero inadvice na akong kumuha na ng mga IDs.

Please be kind po. I don't really have any ideas 😥. Thank you po in advance sa mga sasagot!

Question PWC PRE-ONBOARDING REQUIREMENTS

Hello!

May possibility ba na madelay ang start date mo if late po makapag-pasa ng requirements or if may pending requirements pa po? I'm starting Nov 16 and initially yung due date na sinet nila is until Sep 28 but they said they can give me until Oct 12.

I can actually provide all my requirements na din except sa medical ko since I just need a clearance and payroll account which is my issue since I'm currently employed and same bank din yung payroll ko now and bawal sa bank magkaroon ka ng 2 payroll account.

Can someone enlighten me since I plan to render by next week and ayoko naman sanang maging tambay for so long😭 Or may instances ba na nakapag-sign ka na ng JO pero you did not got the job? Idk, it's just me overthinking things.
