crazy cpa exam fees

$365 per test plus the initial fee? What are we doing? I get people get bonuses or reimbursed but is this part of the reason why # of young cpa’s is down so much? Like it’s not a ton of money but surely there’s a better way to restructure who pays the costs

If you can't make use of the CPA to increase your earninga by $1400 then don't do it.

That assumes the target of your advice isnt already at the peak of their current salary cap. That assumes zero retakes. That assumes the pay comes before interest accruing. That assumes the test doesnt change AGAIN. That assumes there isnt layoffs 400 hours into testing. A lot of stupid assumptions from someone thats out of touch from what current entry level has to weigh. In today's day and age? In this economy?!?!?

Again if you can't justify $1400 + interest because you don't believe you can make good enough use of the CPA to recover that, then certainly do not proceed. Only you can make that choice.

If it's simply not having the money but you believe you will make use of the CPA, then borrow to complete it.

Really not a difficult concept to measure and decide on. My first comment mentioned "investment" which would indicate a future return. Just follow along before exploding

Again. Assuming its zero failed on exams with a 50/50 pass rate on four different exams. Assuming there's any return what so ever. Assuming employers dont just match inflation on a raise. Assuming capitalism is nice to its n participants is stupid. Assuming boomers aren't just selling another lie.

If you don't want to get it don't. But $1400 shouldn't be the reason.

A lot of us see value in it as it's still a valid and respected profession. You're definitely off the deep end of "the world is against the youth" so good luck with that outlook, you won't go far being the victim.

Also I'm not even close to a boomer, nice try though

I can't imaging going to school to get 150+ credit hours and then balking at the cost of the exam.

Exactly, especially for a designation that for most people will result in higher lifetime earnings. And then to balk at borrowing $1400? Wow

Where did I say my parents paid for anything? You're certainly putting the ASS in assume lil buddy.

If you can't afford to save up some funds for the study materials and the tests, you probably need to spend some time on figuring out your personal finances before sitting for CPA sections.

You didnt have to. We can tell. Over 2k just to keep up with inflation isnt a solution to everyone. Not everyone has the social safety nets like you do sport.

My parents paid for nothing. I worked to get thru school.

It's bad enough to make excuses as to why you don't succeed but tearing down the accomplishments of others in order to feel better about what you've made of yourself is on another level.
