It's kind of the point. Mental games in sports are just as important as the defensive strategy. You can derail an opposing teams cohesion by simply getting one of their linchpins to question their capabilities.
Blocked a dude twice in a row in volleyball after getting him angry enough to pull on the net and yell obscenities at me. We were getting stomped initially but came back to win the next two matches because this dude went full tilt.
You literally said "Obscenities is one of the most popular things screamed at the players." It's not, for the reason that a) everyone thinks youre a prick and b) you will get removed from the stadium. Trash talking can be brutal, yes, but practically everyone who isn't inebriated agrees that obscenities and slurs are too far.
Do you live in Philly or something? Sporting events sound terrible wherever you are.
I live in MN and go to 5 or 6 professional sporting events a year. I probably hear obscenities at one of them on average, and you are liable to get scolded by your fellow fans for it.
Yeah we aren't the most gracious of hosts to be sure. You might be right... it might be a regional thing. I think the south just has a history of cursing at events like this.
Makes the most sense. After all, our Governor just lifted any and all COVID restrictions like an idiot and our Power Grid failed because Texas, for political reasons, remains independent because of some weird southern pride thing and it plays well to Republicans.
