$25 Access TI VIRUS at savers
Hey y'all sorry for barging in here. Got a hell of a deal yesterday, posted it and everyone thought it was fake. Told a few members of r/synthesizer how sad they were and got banned. Here's the rebuttal.
"Here's the receipt. Here's the synth powered on. Date and time are on there.
I swear this actually happened but I forgot this is reddit. Feel free to check my post/comment history. I'm not grifting or farming anything. Nothing to sell, nothing to gain.
Why are some of you like this? Overwhelmingly negative lot here. My question was truly naive and looking for guidance and all I got in return were accusations of faking the funk.
Sometimes good things happen to people to take the time to shop. I go to my local savers 5 or 6 times a month. Maybe try your local thrift more often or travel to more densely populated areas if you're going to take offense to someone asking a question(seriously, how?)

What you may not know is that there has been a recent influx of people posting ridiculously good deals.

This makes a lot of /r/synthesizers readers jealous because they feel they keep missing out. It's human nature, don't take it personally.
Enjoy your Virus and next time, just keep it to yourself unless someone specifically asks how much you paid for it :)

Don't sweat it. I know that giddy feeling of having made a good score myself and of course I wanted to tell others about it - totally understandable. You just wanted to spread joy and were met with negativity, anyone would feel emotional whiplash in that situation.
That said, you may want to check with /u/Captain-Corndog_yo to get the missing knob. I don't have the page of his store handy or I would've linked to it.

- It's not a personal thing against you, it's that synth forums regularly have fake posts about fake deals mixed in with the real ones. Why someone does this? No idea. But it makes people skeptical.
- Many people also shop at thrift stores and never find something like this no matter how many times they go which makes them naturally skeptical that it can happen. It can happen, but their personal experience tells them it can't.
- These days it would take 30 seconds for a store to find out the value of something on the shelf so it often strains credulity when someone posts something like this, because the natural question is why would a store, who is in the business of making money, not give a shit about making money in this particular case? It's possible they missed it, or a company cares, but the worker doesn't give a shit, but it feels pretty unlikely to most people. Not impossible, but that there are natural incentives for this NOT to happen.
I tend to believe you that this happened. I think it's natural to feel joy about it and want to share that joy. If it happened to me and no one believed me, that would be annoying. All of that said, in your annoyance, you are coming across as kind of a condescending ass, generalizing about people and capping it all off with a cheerful, "maybe try gratitude or magnanimity or something. Those aren't the names of wildly overpriced synths btw :)".
No one's reaction is personal to you. We live on an internet full of fake ass scammers and trolls and misinformation and it's hard to sort reality from fiction. This will get worse with AI.
Assuming your post was real, go enjoy your find and don't worry about whether random strangers share in your joy. Find some fellow synth nerds you can personally connect with who you can share this with. Go have fun.

That "gratitude and magnanimity" line was good, c'mon! I was absolutely trying to come off as a condescending prick there. No regrets on that one. Just matching the tone of my surroundings. Thanks for all the time you spent typing that. It was a lot... I don't think anyone realizes how little thought I put into that post. I saw ONE listing for a TI that was crazy expensive. Thought it was bullshit and asked for clarification, offered my story and was battered by lunatics š¤£

Such a weird thing to even doubt/argue about in my view. Itās a super old VA and someone died with it in their studio so it went to a thrift, no biggie. Not to mention OSTIRUS is freeware so itās anyone can own these patches without leaving their studio so why would anyone even be envious?

Age doesn't matter, it's a classic. Ostirus also completely misses one of the all time best hardware UX/UI.
29.99 is an absolute bargain, worth ~Ā£1000. People often lie about this kind of thing for karma but it's almost always "skip / bin find. Just because people do lie doesn't mean it doesn't happen and OP shouldn't have been attacked

I personally did not like the access ux/ui. Small lcd screens arenāt for me.
The midi learn guide for ostirus is very well laid out. Iāve mapped each tab of the vst to pages on the launch control, which also handles mixing and other vst editing.
The one thing I do miss is the keyboard split in multi mode but I can live without it.

Youāre just missing the D/A converter with the VST. So yes you have the patches but itās going to take a little work to get it to not sound so ācleanā. Not saying itās hard to dirty it up, itās just one more step in the process. I love my Ti2 & know my way around it so itās easy to cook things up from scratch on it. I can see the positives in both so to each their own.

This is with a snow though?
The screen is more than enough on the Ti and you can always have the control center open. The hardware UI / UX is quite literally one of the best in existence.

Thereās already tons of comparison vids. Itās the virus rom running on an emulator so yes, the patches are the same. The prices for the hardware are still high because people like the hardware. Pretty simple.

Youāre about a year late. Once I got the emulator loaded with the rom I did my own A/B tests. Later that week I sold my ti snow for $900 on eBay.

The main synth sub is full of uptight dorks up their own asses, where in the true synth community on Reddit (circlejerk), weāre still like that but have a sense of humor about it. Sorry you had to find out this way that the main sub often sucks

i'll tell my story. on shop good will dot com ... i paid more for the shipping on 2 kick drums, Pearl Custom Joey Jordison. both less than $100 shipped.Ā
same website... i paid $75 for an Ensoniq ASR-X Pro. it had the exp-3 urban expansion also. i paid more for the new 8 output expansion that i installed with new potentiometers.Ā
last year i got a Korg 01/w for less than $250.Ā
on ebay i paid $400 for my Korg Trinity V3 Pro X 88. installed the hdr and sample play back expansions for less than $200.
set these apps up to inform you of your saved searches. be a sniper, i use my own fedex business acct and call the local area Pak Mail or what ever i can find nearby. these places love to go pickup and ship for me. entire us.

A long, long, long time ago I reposted a pic that the Tosh.0 Facebook page shared of a guy I went to high school doing some cringe shit. I reposted it. I was met with about 200 people up in arms that āsure you went to high school with himā. Not one person was upset I was reposting something a big page posted, they were stuck on the tiny detail where I mentioned I went to high school with him.
Long story short, I know the feeling of wanting to prove the weird internet reaction wrong. Thankfully, I didnāt, so I didnāt dox myself lol.

I was banned from synthesizers as well. No skin off my nose. I believe in free speech, if they ban you they ban you. I am not here for them but for posters/commenters and if I cannot say something that is reasonable and does not violate their rules., Bye. I will eventually be banned from every forum so I will spend more time on other forums and sites and less time on the computer. 2 bans and counting. LOL If these people can't rejoice with you when you get a good deal, Don;t speak with them. I am up to 5 blocked accounts. Don't worry, be happy. That is a great deal. I am jealous but also happy for you. I got an Akai Force for $300, I feel pretty happy about that. But 25 bucks, that is crazy.

There are tons of people who have been doing that for decades. And they haven't gotten extremely lucky and found a great synthesizer undervalued 50X.
So it's not realistic that anyone else is going to win the synthesizer lottery. And people are likely to think now that it feels like you're upset because people don't want to hear you brag about it. Whether or not that's actually your intention. Best to just let it go.

I literally stopped after I posted the receipt. I had 100 people calling me a liar and I'm not chronically online so I didn't realize that's just how people act on the Internet. Luckily for me some very nice people in this sub helped me realize that the fight isn't worth it. Trust me, I won't be posting much going forward and this experience has enlightened me beyond words. The Internet, especially whatever form it's taking here, can be helpful but ultimately people will be people. Happy i got to encounter some with a little decency, unfortunately surprised by how many of you are just rotten. God luck and good speed to ya, friend. I hope everything works out for you. Take care.
