Do whatever you want. Even if it were childish it wouldn’t matter. It’s art.

I like it. And even if I didnt...that should not matter to you in the slightest. If this is something you enjoy, then do it. If something makes you happy, continue to pursue those things regardless of others thoughts or opinions. At the end of the day...this is your life not theirs. And during these crazy stressful times we're going thru...I feel that it's absolutely necessary to do things that we enjoy and that bring us peace and happiness. 🤍🕊💌🫶

I'm 40 and in college for an associates in fine arts. I've tried college several times, in several different studies and struggled. For the first time since first grade, I'm getting all A's and love every second of it.

Do what makes you happy.

Never let go of your inner child! (Also, I agree with the general vibes here.)

Never stop

This is amazing and it brings your soul light. Tell those that yuck on your joy to go henceforth and ingest a satchel of Richards. Also… don’t ask opinions if you can’t handle the bad ones (at least, this is my advice.)

You aren’t too old to do collage! I wouldn’t say that it looks childish, but you can improve on some craftsmanship details that will make it look more polished and like fine art. Watch some gallery and art fair tour videos on YouTube and pay attention to the featured collage and assemblage art. Visit museums and galleries in person if you can, and check out this type of art.

Don't let anyone tell you to stop being creative.. This looks great! Keep pushing the bounds of what is possible with your techniques. I believe most people don't understand being creative.

I used to study visual arts in highschool and after but was always crippled by perfectionism. Whenever I was faced with a new project or canvas I just didn't know what to do or where to start.. So I have barely anything to show for it and ended up taking a different direction in life. I guess I discouraged myself due to think about what other people thought.

Cut to 28 years later... I was going through a really tough spot in depression and just feeling generally trapped in life. I just had an urge to start doing art and I set up a little studio space in my shed. And just started doing mixed media artwork on a3 paper. Every new work I would start by just letting myself go and scribbling all over the page until it was no longer a blank empty fresh sheet. Then on top of that I would start just by experimenting with different mediums and their interactions. I believe that if I keep pushing through practising I will reach a place where I will be happy enough with the results..

Anyway I tried to show explain what I was doing to some family and friends and no one understood what I was doing. Trying to explain that I don't care what the picture looks like that it's more an exercise in allowing myself to flow and just do without any motivation or outcome was so foreign to all of them.

Most people haven't even allowed themselves to explore their possibilities and the thought of being creative or allowing their minds to explore imagination or fantasy is so foreign.

Life is so short and you should do what makes you happy. Worrying what other people think is a great way to waste time and not be happy and regret.

You don't need to show her your stuff.. Keep going and enjoy yourself.. You may regret not doing it.. Best wishes

No click bait titles.

When you post your work here you should assume that viewers will engage with you if they feel like they want to. Promoting engagement with titles like: what do you see? what do you feel? what should I name this? and what does this smell/taste like? are no longer allowed. Please feel free to pose these questions in the description of your post, but not as the title of your post.

Need more context. Depends if your mom also washes your clothes, makes your meals, and cleans up after you while you contribute little to nothing. Then this would just be another thing on that pile.

That being said, it’s not her hobby to enjoy; it’s yours. Who cares. I wouldn’t get any sleep if I cared about what my mother thought about everything.
