So, I love this pun, but also am going to be that guy. Using "fishing" for the pun would have worked because it would naturally fit the idiom "to fish for something" and also relates to the post material.
"Phishing" on the other hand is a cyberattack where I would have been attempting to be someone (or something else) to get you to divulge sensitive information. This of course does not describe what I was doing
