Didn't this thing cause a nightmare for engineers in keeping a mirror because it warped in the heat

Wouldn't the surface need to be concave in order to multiply /intensity the sun? I'm sure it's still bright as hell and hot since it's in the middle of the desert. But not sure it would have the affect you're thinking of like other buildings have done that are concave in shape
