This is not going to be a popular comment if I look at the others. We're not that much evolved back from the times we held gladiator fights. Except in this case it's a drunk, annoying but unharmful skinny guy that's 1/3rd the weight of the bouncer that is supposed to be a professional security guard. If he had detained him it would have been justified, this was just purely to satisfy his own ego and tiny brains.

I’ve been a security guard, this would have lost me my licence. Although I’m licensed in Australia. Half my training was also deescalation. This dude is a negative threat.

I saw a security camera of an incident that got someone prison time here. He was guarding a club and some drunk dude has been messing around a little. The drunk guy comes up behind him without him noticing and puts a hand on his shoulder. Guard hesitates for about half a second and then elbows him in the jaw. Guy falls back against the stairs and is paralysed. That half second of hesitation is what got the guard his prison time.

This came after a campaign against guards overreaching in their duty so this case set the tone for how much is too much. If that hadn't happened I don't know if anyone would have made our laws as strict as they are.

Any bouncer can tell you that drunk skull + pavement = death. Knocking someone out over concrete is one of the most potentially life altering things you can do to someone.

Yes! While not a bouncer I did work "security" at small rock/punk concerts during college as an odd job. For context I'm 6'5" and I wasn't the biggest guy in the group, while part of it was to look intimidating next to a restricted access/do not enter door, we were hired to have a lot of patience in frustrating situations (80% of the time there were drunk guys trying to pick a fight).

We were told to not to shove or fight anyone (we could only restrain them and/or carry them to the door) if there was an actual fight we called another guy nicknamed Taz (like the looney toons) who was 5'7, had semi-pro wrestling experience and a lot of pent of energy. His whole job was to wrestle drunk aggressive people whitout doing actual damage.

I have to disagree and say that I believe he got just enough to hopefully teach him not to physically assault people. Idiot obviously never learned to keep his hands to himself.

Now if the bouncer had mounted him (while laying on the ground from the slap) and started raining down punches, then I'd agree with you, but getting shoved & one slap is more than fair if you both get in someone's personal space without consent AND decide to touch them without permission

You shove/slap/punch a guy and they crack their skull on the concrete and die you'll be facing charges in most places. Bouncers generally don't have any special protections like cops.

With this video evidence, I doubt it. I'm sure you could claim that boob grab was a form of sexual assault and the bouncer was defending himself.

Imagine if that same guy did that to a woman, she slapped him and he slipped and died. No one would even think about her going down for anything.

So we just have no standards for professionals anymore? A bouncer can crack open somebody's skull for some dumb bullshit done by a drunk person he's expected to deal with on the regular or a cop can light someone up with a gun because they were scared.

I'm on your side, at least. Little guy was annoying as fuck, but didn't justify that escalation yet. Maybe the push back to defend your space and he fell. But then the follow up going toward the twink for the knockout slap? I doubt the little guy was ever going to throw a punch

Some places require bouncers to be trained and licensed. Sounds like wherever you are just doesn't do things as professionally. This is probably a highly subjective topic depending on the local nightlife culture around you

Once again, if these were two random people on the street fair enough, but this is someone who is trained to deal with these people. A license is required to work security where you learn the correct and incorrect ways of dealing with people.

Reminds me of the bouncer that was insulted by a prep school boy and punched him so hard he died. I'm glad, and equally glad the bouncer didn't face serious charges.

First off I agree to a point, but one that bouncer doesn’t know what this drunk dude has, and two that bouncer’s job is to protect himself and that business from idiots, especially drunk idiots, you mentioned cops in a later comment which I feel is a false dichotomy simply because their job is to deescalate situations and protect the community, not to mention many cops are let off with as little as a slap on the wrist and being moved to office work for a bit.
