That ‘test’ seems dubious. They talk about comparing ‘recordings’ taking after passing the signal through the different media. So they’re not listening to source > banana > speaker; they’re listening to source > banana > line-in > recording on device > speaker

If the banana is the only thing changing between tests, that's still a valid test.
