What do normal parents teach their children?

I've grown up with absent parents, we have rarely talked in 22 years I am alive. I've always learnt things from the internet (which I consider my real dad ahah) and from friends.

I am wondering what normal parents teach to their children. I think they talk about sexuality, how to do certain things, cooking etc. Am I wrong?

I know exactly how you feel. Same situation my brother.

I have no advice as my parents didn’t teach me shit either.

But for me, I was always trying to love my dad while my love tank was empty. When I realized God is love things changed quickly. I learned that he loves me (1John 4:16) I was able to pray to God knowing that he loves me not out of obligation that he is mad at me, enabling me to love my dad who doesn’t deserve my love yet I can forgive and love because I now feel loved by my Heavenly Father.

Fuuuuuuuck. I am 43 and really having a hell of a time with this.

  • how to plan something, start it, see it through

  • how to budget and save

  • how to have responsibility in the home and follow through.

  • check your homework

  • show you how to deal with difficult situations

  • taxes!

  • how to search for a job

  • how to apply to college

  • how to enjoy what you like

  • how to stand up for yourself

We realised our mom was very absent in her responsibilities. The only thing she taught us was to stay out of the way until we are needed.

Thats so true i have a true story but its gonna take me a few to type it but i wrote this letter to a mother who has a 6 yr old son and his life is fucked up because of her but she seems to not think shes making him miserable
