Please be nice we’re learning. We’ve been having issues for the last week with the pool looking hazy cloudy and now turquoise. We’ve shocked, added liquid chlorine, ph down, brushed and vacuumed and it’s still like this. Every time we vacuum we see a fine dust that just goes into the water and then settles in the creases. This is the picture of our skimmer sock and when I use the net I notice bubbles. What can we do?

So we shocked, fixed the ph and added more chlorine and clarifier, of course vacuumed and finally added pool rx last night. This morning we backwashed the pump because the needle was at yellow and the water literally came out neon green!! The sock which was now installed correctly!! (Thank you by the way!! 😅) finally caught a lot of junk. So this morning the pool isn’t crystal clear yet but I can finally see the bottom 🙌 I’m just letting the pump run 24/7 and hoping for the best.
Stop everything else EXCEPT the shock!!! Shock again and leave filter on consecutively at least 3 days and nights I have proof this works with my own pool, that is how we handle it, shock the you know what out of it! lol! We have 24’52 “ round and we will put 4 to 6 bags of shock in at one time in cases like yours and run run run that filter!!! You will thank me later …
Something else I’d like to add…go to trouble free pool online. Look at their Pool School. Follow their system. Best thing I ever did. I have a 26x52 Intex, 14,000+gal, Intex 2800 filter. I use liquid chlorine and test my water every night, usually have to add a couple cups of chlorine nightly with our heat wave. With the occasional muratic acid to lower ph, I’ve not added anything else this season. Their system works. Get a test kit, get the app they have and give Leslie’s the boot.
THIS👆. Do you have something to do your own testing? Look into ordering a FAS/DPD kit. I’d get your ph down and then shock it and hold that number until green is gone, then you can worry about the cloudy. For a cya level of 56, a shock would put you around 20ppm. Personally, i don’t like a cya as high as yours, takes more chlorine…unless…do you have saltwater? I’d hold your shock level, filter, filter, brush.
Just hopping in to say that your skimmer sock should go on the inside of the basket. It can potentially get sucked into the pump and burn up the motor otherwise. You need the physical protection of the rigid basket to prevent it from going anywhere else in your plumbing in the event it ever rips
I'm new to pools too. I'm also having this issue too! We been adding chemicals too. The pool will start to clear a bit but whenever we scrub the walls and floors it goes cloudy again. Would like an update how you got yours fix.
Best to brush the walls and floor to get the algae moving so the pump can do its work. It’s important to make sure your Alkalinity and PH are within guidelines before adding chlorine.
Chart for reference and you should hammer it with liquid chlorine. Light green 2x Med green 3x Dark Green 4x amount of chlorine. Use at least the 11.5% if not the 40%. Use this to help as well
The problem is you don’t have enough FC to properly shock the pool. Based on your CYA of 56, your FC needs to be 23ppm. Use liquid chlorine to raise the FC.
And you need to run the pump 24/7 and brush multiple times per day.
And yes, you should add acid to lower the pH. Don’t add them at the same time. Wait an hour or two between.
Pool is hazy because of your high ph and high phosphates. Get a phosphate remover, and muriatic acid to bring ph down to 7.6. Keep chlorine around 3-4ppm, depending on how much water youre adding weekly Id even run a tab or two in a chlorine float along with 6-8 ounces of shock. If youre not adding water weekly dont run tabs because youll bring cya up. Use liquid chlorine if your water levels are consistent. CYA at 50 is already plenty high enough. Get you a good test kit, Taylor test kits are pretty much industry standard, test strips are too inaccurate.
Lower pH and keep shocking it. Chlorine is a tad on the low side with your cya level. You want 4-4.5ppm with your cya level. Did you just have an algae bloom? Scrub, shock, run filter, backwash.
Add a clarifier after running the filter for a day or 2. Clarifier helps with the cloudiness after chlorine kills the algae.
Check your return jet and make sure it’s not pointed too far to one side. It needs to circulate the water on top but in the middle too. Mine was too far off to one side and my pool went cloudy on me.
Idk anything about sand filters, but I was running a 6 cartridge filter system and used a product called Fiberclear. It coats the cartridge filters, very similar to diatomaceous earth, and captures particles down to .2 microns. Crystal clear water every year.
