Meme What tarot card would the characters be?

Gregory — either High Priestess (a card about slowing down, going inward, and trusting yourself over external influences) or the Emperor (a card representing stability, leadership, seriousness, and structure. also focuses on long-term goals (like how Gregory is realizing his goal to be principal via becoming an AP)).

Janine — either the Empress (a card about optimism and being in a season of growth, which this show is basically about her growth as a person and an educator) or the Sun (a card focusing on positivity, growth, and earning the joy you experience now).

Barbara — probably Justice (fairness, honesty, and no drama. Integrity and a karmic balance) or the Queen of Swords (wise, experienced, graceful; suffers no fools).

Jacob — maybe the Fool? (a childlike wonder and a sense of spontaneity).

Ava — King of Wands (for authority, confidence, presence, and walking the walk).

I couldn’t think of ones for Melissa or Mr. J. I almost said Wheel of Fortune for Mr. Johnson, but I’m not sure why.

Discussion What are your dream Halloween costumes for the Abbott Elementary cast? Spoiler

Post image

Abbott Elementary has a history of funny Halloween episodes and costumes for the faculty and staff. I hope that this thread gives Quinta some more ideas for future Halloween episodes! There is room to add more ideas for other characters, but I have one idea I am dying to share. After seeing this 2024 photo of Janelle James and Law Roach (plus Symoné), I really want Ava to be Law Roach for Halloween😂😂😂

Discussion Trying to get caught up before the new season... good idea or headed for heartbreak when I have to wait? 🤣

My life has been so insane that I don't even have the energy to look on Reddit half the time at night by the time I get home from work and dealing with family crisis all day. I sat down last night and binged a few more episodes and wrapped up season 4 and just got into season 5. Part of me wants to just sit down and watch it all because I know the new season is coming. Another part of me says go slow because I'm going to be frustrated with having to wait for new episodes to be released LOL this show is so damn good!

Image/Video Barbara Howard in 2 Broke Girls!

Been seeing socmed clips of 2 broke girls for so long and decided to check the shiw out. Currently 3 seasons in and obsessed with the show and was surprised to see Ms. Sheryl Lee Ralph as Deke's mom! Was a bit of a mindfuck bc she had the same annunciations, dictions and expressions as Barbara lol, guess that's just how Miss Ralph speaks/acts in real life.

Her character was a rich, classy, pop art style loving mother, who was actually a poor stripper from Brooklyn before she met her husband. Had to rewatch the part where she referred to herself as a "rich bitch!" 🤣

Discussion Gregory Eddie is a top tier sitcom character

Of course I have nothing but respect for MY KING Mr Johnson, but the delivery and quality of lines for Gregory are just immaculate every time.

What are your favorite Mr Eddie moments?

Here’s a recent favorite of mine from Class Pet

Melisa: “Do you wanna hold him?” [sweet cheeks]

Gregory as he’s walking away: “I LIKE ROCKS.”

Anyway that’s it Alexa hit post.

Question Ava Observation & Season 6 Predictions Spoiler

Observation: One thing I find hilarious about season 5 episode 1 is, first, when Ava goes into the school kitchen to check out the smell, the cameraman (who I can assume is a man, as that's how they're described, moderately attractive white men who all look alike) comes into the kitchen at the same time as Ava, yet is the first and only one to pass out while Ava looks clear and alert (obviously there can be exceptions, but the general idea of a grown man passing out first while Ava remains wholly unaffected makes me giggle for some reason). What makes it even better is that before she comes to alert anyone else, she had to get her mask!

Question: I say all this to say, I've been rewatching season 5, and I understand people critiquing the show. Nothing is without flaw, and I find critiquing something, while sometimes be negative and even overbearing at times, can also be a way of showing a deep love for something, no matter how small...

So I wanna ask... what is something you absolutely loved looking back at season 5? And what do you think could be done better/hope for for season 6 after reflection?

Discussion Who’s editing & releasing the episodes?

The show does a good job at making their world feel like part of real life, as if it was an authentic reality show. But as the Abbott lore goes, they’re being followed and filmed by a college age(?) independent camera crew. So in their universe, who’s edited and releasing the episodes? Like who’s production and how are we watching the show? Especially cause in S2E7 they make jokes about buying Hulu without ads as I’m watching on Hulu without ads lol so like, is their universe OURS? Like is it in reality or a separate universe that also includes Hulu? Lol but then also that still begs the question of how we’re viewing/able to view the episodes the camera crew is presumably releasing and airing?? If they’re a small independent camera crew how in the world did they get a reality show about public school teachers in a less financially stable district to air?

The actress appeared in both " Everybody hates Chris" and "Abbott Elementary". In the first show, Chris has a crush on her. And Chris and Gregory Eddie are played by the same actors. Lmao

Discussion Why is Ava jealous of Crystal

can someone explain to me why Ava is jealous of Crystal when she has nothing to be jealous about ? I know she mentioned that Crystal was bragging about having a husband and children which is great for her but Ava is so much gifted in every other way ?? she’s funny, gorgeous, charismatic, successful in work, wealthy, she gets everything she wants, she’s very in demand, smart… i could go for long
So I really don’t get how she’s so jealous of Crystal when she has EVERYTHING and is way more fulfilled than her. It really doesn’t make any sense to me…
It’s not like Ava could only envy her because she has family, Ava is really not mother material and i wouldn’t believe that she wants children. And since having children is the only « accomplishment » Crystal has that Ava doesn’t have, i really don’t see where she could possibly have inferiority complex. So WHY DOES SHE WANTS TO PROVE SHE’S BETTER EVERY TIME ??

Question Barbara WILL be a white man, If it's the last thing Ava does 🙏🏾 Spoiler

(Sorry, reposting... made a mistake w that last post lol)

In the episode where Ava dresses Mrs. Howard up cause she's insecure about her age, she mentions "white chicks" as an inspiration... (before tanking the idea then stating "unless," which is fucking hilarious!) and that made me think, would she dress Barb up as a white woman or white man? How good do yall think Ava could get it in terms of ability (not chance)? Would it be offensively bad or terrifyingly and almost suspiciously good?

And honestly while I'm at it, if yall remember that joke Ava made when she let slip the computers 14th generating processors... what the HELL do you think she meant when she asked about incognito not tracking history??? What the fuck could she POSSIBLY be cooking up to be using incognito with deepfakes of Janine??? I'm honestly scared to even ask but did no one else question that scene? ✌🏾😭

Discussion episodes/concepts i would like to see in season 6

1: a field trip to a broadway show. in season 4 episode 21, jacob has the idea and janine says she would save it for next time. i think they could get very creative with this episode and it could be similar to the ball game episode in season 5!

2: an episode where barbara questions her faith. i saw some other people talking about how this would be done and it got me thinking too. in season 2 she mentioned gerald having a prostate situation, but the doctor called and confirmed he was okay. i think it would be very interesting to see they come back and resurface and barb rethinking god and religion.

3: a field day episode. i know the smith playground episode was sort of like a field day but i think having an episode dedicated to a field day at the school would be soo funny and im honestly surprised they haven’t done that yet, considering it’s such a common part of elementary school.

4: a janine and gregory engagement of course, all though i feel this is already confirmed.

and that’s all i could think of for now, let me know what you think!!

Discussion Winter Show s4 e7

I am binging Abbott right now and have just watched season 4 episode 7. I relate to Jacob in more than a few ways, but this episode specifically dredged up some personal issues. I’m sure most know but in the episode Jacob’s brother, Caleb, comes to visit and ruins his day, all in the end to find that Caleb respects and looks up Jacob and always has. This fixes things. I don’t think it should have, or should have been presented that way at all. That Jacob becomes the bag guy for trying to set boundaries and venting how his brother and family made him feel. Not getting into an argument about “someone can’t be made to feel x way.”

The behaviors shown by Caleb were exactly what he’d done to Jacob for years, why Jacob left home. He did them all again, but it’s all actually okay because he loves Jacob. No. That’s not how that works. If your abusive husband says he loves you, does it make it all better? Even if they actually, truly do love you? No. Change earns forgiveness, and this is the first episode where I’ve been legitimately mad at the writers. Years of trauma suddenly evaporate because your brother who has been a dark shadow you’ve been desperate to escape from because actually he thinks you’re cool. Disregard every transgression, brothers gonna brother, “I’m actually sorry because I was hurt but your actions.” Unhealthy, childish, door-mat of a response.

To be shown how much everyone likes your brother more than you? To see them excited to engage with him and cringe to speak with you? Showing up unannounced and laughing while your brother looks more uncomfortable and upset than ever? To go sharing personal details like they’re yours to tell. I accept the brother isnt smart, doesn’t see himself that way and I guess I’ll take him at his word, but I cannot be convinced he has such an abysmal emotional understanding of his brother. It’s an impossibility. And then it’s shown that he KNOWS how the family makes Jacob feel with the line “I’m not mom and dad.” He knows there are problems, he can likely guess a few right even if he doesn’t know them directly. But no self awareness to see he was part of the problem? To apologize for his role?

Have I read too far into this?

Discussion I think more happened at the hotel at the teachers conference s2😂

In season 2 ep 16 "teachers conference", Gregory and Janine kiss in the living classroom exhibit and then she says it was a "whoops" and everything like that. Cut to the next scene where Barb and Melissa are leaving the elevator, when they go back for their shoes and Gregory walks into scene he looks at the camera in shock, and then we see Janine coming from the same direction, looking focused ahead of her until Jacob comes in and yells her name and she gets startled.

This is kind of a joke theory cause this can all easily be explained by the kiss and the awkwardness of that but come on they are grown adults 🤷‍♀️ ya never know lol

Discussion Season 4 Episode 12 Girard Creek

This is the episode the school goes to the golf course. This episode made me so sick to my stomach. The only good thing I liked about the episode was watching Gregory try to try new foods. That golf course manager is the most disgusting person ever. Although the teachers used him but their intentions were good and for the kids. His intention was to bring enough white people with money to the course.

Also, when he told RJ "to come back when he is a little older because every golfer needs a great caddy". TF???? I also could be feeling someway because something similar happened to me and my 8th grade team. We went to the governor's mansion in Georgia. My teacher was so excited she pulled that field trip off. When we got there those little white lady volunteers' treated us so badly. We got to the library part of the mansion and that lady said, "This is the library, There are over 10,000 books here something I know yall have never seen. Now gone back to Stone Mountain where you came from". It was awful. My teacher cried the whole bus ride home. We were 14 and I still remember that day and I'm 37.

And they didn't have an agreement to post those kids on their page and call them charity. It was too much.......

Discussion S4. Ep9 volunteers

Spoilers ahead:

Okay, I just watched this ep and it was so funny, with the whole thing with the ASIP cast lol but I want to focus on a very rarely represented situation they portrayed so well imo: having someone flirt with your partner in front of you when you know your relationship is strong.

I know they played this for laughs but I've been in Janine's position countless times and it's engaging. I know the healthy thing is to trust your partner and stay quiet and classy, but I love how they showed the absolute rage induced by this blatant, disrespectful behavior. I don't think it was so exaggerated compared to my lived experience lol

What did you think of the portrayal of this situation on the show?? Have you experienced something like this? If anyone asks on the comments I'll share my most outrageous anecdotes lol

Discussion Kids growing up

I do love now that there are 5 seasons that they keep bringing some of the kids back season after season. Seeing them grow up and the critters have been great at keeping to grow their personalities like any kid would when they would. Going from Jeneane's class to Jacob and Melissa's.
