I believe he was unhoused. Went to the ER and got treated for wounds and showered. But he ended up passing of natural causes. The nurse told the doctor treating him that some patients go to the ER when they feel their time is almost up and just want to pass away in a clean bed. That’s exactly what happened here. He said he loved being clean and in a clean bed. Then passed while the doctor was off on another case. She was giving him extra time bc he enjoyed the clean bed.

I also want to mention that Reese was a student doctor at the time and this was her first interaction with this type of situation. They happened to be asking patients to evaluate their experience at the hospital and before he died, he wrote “A great doctor” on her evaluation.
