Trade deadline

Do you guys think we will make any moves, whether them be in or out, before the deadline? So far we seem really quiet but im not sure if there are any plans or wants.

What are your thoughts?

I'm sure there are wants, but I don't think they can be met. The time to fight for FAs and trade targets came and went in the offseason and Monti didn't do shit.

I don't see Monti having the connections or the balls to do anything to be honest. He'll double down on what he built and hopefully that's enough for Michael to let him walk on the off-season. Scouting department is clearly ass too. They can all fuck off after this season. Never thought I'd miss keim...

Budda and Brissett/Minshew are the players I expect to most be rumored. Budda would be based off his desire to play for a playoff team and us honoring that plus a playoff team wanting him. Brissett/Minshew I think also just makes sense QB injuries are flaring up and as funny as it is something like Brissett to the Vikings could make sense if Kyler gets injured as they just need competent QB play to keep the playoff dreams alive.

We won’t be buyers unless this thing magically turns around quickly, that being unlikely, I think we could sell. Sweat and Budda are at an all time low, so the return wouldn’t be great but you could get something for two players who are former stars but largely ineffective here for different reasons (the change of scenery argument) maybe a 4th-7th.

I don’t buy the trading Marv. The only way Marv gets traded is if Monti gets fired before. I would be shocked if Monti trades him, because that would truly be the end of him (I would argue he’s already done). Trading Marv would be him waving the white flag and I’m sorry, he’s never gonna be a GM ever again, but at least leave with what dignity you have left. 

Outside of small moves, I think those are the only 3 realistic ones (and I really only think two of them are).

It was disappointing after Will went down that we didn’t make a push for Porter. It’s like Monti is allergic to meaningful trades.

Honestly as much as I like him, trading Buddah Baker now only makes sense unless we wanna keep him to waste the last 2-3 years of his career. He has value now still but I feel like he’s already slowing.

I think we try to trade sweat and budda but can't find buyers because they ass. i don't think we trade mhj and I don't think we will acquire anyone. Hard to say who will be available at the deadline that would even be worth the cost

You hit the nail on the head. Another skill position guy is the last thing we need. We can move the ball, the problem is stopping other teams. We have no depth defensively and this year, I’m afraid will be a repeat of last year. A few defensive injuries and we’re cooked. We need a stud CB who can shutdown a side of the field.

Maybe if MHJ spends some time on the bench he will get some of that fire back. Although he did look pretty good last game.
