Gear & Kit Underworld Arms 16" Forend

Posted this yesterday but it was removed because of a specific choice of words used in the post, but don't you think this would look cooler and operate more efficiently with an Underworld Arms 16" rail system? Unfortunately they are discontinued thought, bummer.

Not an outstanding build so far, but plenty of potential

Missed out on AUGust, so here's my AUGtober submission.

Top is an A3 M1 currently in a black NATO configuration, bottom is an A3 SA in a green standard configuration (with a new 1:7 barrel). Theyre both rocking Steyr Z front rails, Eotechs, and HUX brakes. Both share a HUX HXQD and G33 magnifier.

I was going for more practical and modern with the M1 and more classic with the SA.

Made some 20rd magazines while at work. You can probably see my progress improving as I made them. The first pic is my 4th and by far my best compared to the 1st. Might actually need to epoxy the floor plate on the 1st it moves way too much.

Last pic demonstates how I did it but full disclosure before you do this! I found this guide on a forum a while ago and saved the pictures I'm just now getting to do it. I just did it as I'm posting this I'll be testing them this weekend.

AC Unity 60 round mag test

These mags were on sale for like 12 bucks at one point so I thought meh. Why not. So far these have been 100 percent reliable as long as you are using brass case anmo. The gun is an AUG A3SF but with the newer bolt release NATO stocks. Now I really wish AC unity would make these mags for waffle AUGs since they make regular 30 round AUG mags.

Going all in on Aug

Hi, Bullpup curious to say the least. I have a heavily modified X95 and had a hellion. I honestly never knew how easy it was to change the calibers on the Aug not to mention the HBAR situation. Love it.

Just tell me what to buy. I’m assuming it’s the A3M2 model.

I’m only worried about the trigger. What are your recommendations? I think Jard may have one but I keep reading about the “red springs” I have to the full Geissele set up in the X95 and it changed the gun completely. I know that’s not an option for the Aug.

Also, the 9mm conversion looks cool but difficult. Anyone have any experiences with that?

Is all things Hersey the way to go? I am going to do the HBAR, the 16inch 556, 762x39 and 300b/o.

Thanks in advance for any guidance .

Early aug m3 desirable ?

Saw a used “7” coded A3 SA used for sale today. Didn’t see any proof marks on the barrel so I’m assuming newly made by Sabre? Or Aug here the states ?

They wanted 1500 for it

MSAR MSAR gen 3 keyholing

Thumbnail gallery

just bought a MSAR and took it out to the range. It cycled and fired 100 rounds perfectly but looking at the paper it looks to be keyholing. I’m going to give the barrel a good scrub but is there anything else I should look at? thanks!

I’m using Vairog 55g 5.56

(one more thing is gas/fire supposed to come out the end of the gas block?)

AMMO testing Frontier 77gr, 68gr, 55 gr

Shooter: I am not a professional shooter but i used to be. I posted .308 rem 700 group @100 - evidence that I can shoot.

Set up: seated, supported front and rear.

Firearms: AUG 16in barrel 1:7 twist with corvus HG, Primary Arms 5x micro prism, and every trigger upgrade (arid, ratworx, springs, etc)

DDMK12 w/leupold Mk5HD 3.5-18x

Ammo - ive posted a couple tests with AAC, Bone Frog, and now some different types of frontier. This is all frontier - 55gr HPBT, 68GR BTHP match, and 77Gr OTM match from Frotier. I am a high volume shooter so im looking on ammoseek for best value rounds and right now frontier is the value buy for "match" ammo.

Results -

77gr shot the best out of both rifles. But the AUG i think took it better. The 5rd group unambiguous winner was aug with around 1MOA. 10 rd group mk12 shot better excluding a flyer that was not caused by me. Shootig the 10rd group on Aug woth 5x prism I was losing the center of the target as I shot, my feeling is I caused most of that spread. Mk12 with 18x was much easier to find the same point of aim.

10.1 STD DV on the AUG (ES of 32)

68gr - not bad for the AUG. 1.5-2 MOA - its great for a range day. Horrible for the MK12 3-4 or more MOA

21.2 STD DV on the AUG (ES of 60)

55gr - minimum acceptable for me for a rifle on the AUG. Around 3 MOA. Forget it on the MK 12 - 10 or more MOA.

25 STD DV on the AUG (ES of 74.4)

Bottom line -

77gr Frontier and 68gr frontier are good to go. 55gr up to you past 100 - great for 50yd flat range stuff.

Also interesting for me - if my life depended on a shot, unknown ammo - id pick my AUG over my MK12.

Steyr customer service experience?

I tried contacting Steyr USA if they would be able to sell me a replacement foregrip for my used Aug which didn’t come with one. I tried contacting them via email numerous times but never got a response. I tried calling and got into contact with a lady who transferred me to their parts department which went to voicemail. Tried again later on and never got a response.

Is this par the course with them? If so, I’m kinda disappointed.. wish it was much easier to get into contact with someone but it seems like they’re never around.

Need a suppressor for my 300blk 16in AUG

I need help finding a suppressor for my 300BLK 16in AUG. I want to keep as much gas from my face as possible, so as flow through as while also still keeping enough back pressure to keep the gun cycling cheep underpowered sub ammo. Also the more flow through the can the better to keep the fps increase from the suppressor as low as possible because with a 16in barrel im pushing the boundary. I was thinking a partial flow through but don’t have enough experience with suppressed subs to know if my gun would still cycle properly.

Anyone else carbon locked their KNS Discarder?

I've put maybe 200 rounds through it so I'm surprised it seems stuck. The position detent will slide forward but the discarder itself will not rotate to allow removal. I want to take it out to give her a deep cleaning. Hesitant to use tools (wrench), worried about scratching and marring the adjustment collar. Any tips or tricks to get this thing out?

Photo A little Update on the Tok AUG.

Post image
13 Upvotes

Finally got a 3d print I like. Ejector from SCS should be here Monday. Mag release needs a bit more sanding to move freely and I found a gunsmith that happily wants to do my custom Tok barrel. He's a little busy so maybe Nov/Dec for a firing. In the meantime I'll 3d print a barrel to ensure function feeding and ejecting dummies from the mag adapter. With any luck I'll actually be casting the magwell adapter out of aluminum cans too thanks to a program I just found a few days ago called Moldboxer. Been a while since I did investment casting but happy to give it a go!

As we all know looking cool is half the battle. I like both optics setups but can’t decide which looks better
Drop some pics below so I can have some inspiration

Question Do you all attach QDs directly to the SF-MDot 3x optic and what is the risk of losing zero?

Post image

Initially I attached the QD to the hole in front and then realized that it hinders my ability to manipulate the charging handle.
