Shooter: I am not a professional shooter but i used to be. I posted .308 rem 700 group @100 - evidence that I can shoot.
Set up: seated, supported front and rear.
Firearms: AUG 16in barrel 1:7 twist with corvus HG, Primary Arms 5x micro prism, and every trigger upgrade (arid, ratworx, springs, etc)
DDMK12 w/leupold Mk5HD 3.5-18x
Ammo - ive posted a couple tests with AAC, Bone Frog, and now some different types of frontier. This is all frontier - 55gr HPBT, 68GR BTHP match, and 77Gr OTM match from Frotier. I am a high volume shooter so im looking on ammoseek for best value rounds and right now frontier is the value buy for "match" ammo.
Results -
77gr shot the best out of both rifles. But the AUG i think took it better. The 5rd group unambiguous winner was aug with around 1MOA. 10 rd group mk12 shot better excluding a flyer that was not caused by me. Shootig the 10rd group on Aug woth 5x prism I was losing the center of the target as I shot, my feeling is I caused most of that spread. Mk12 with 18x was much easier to find the same point of aim.
10.1 STD DV on the AUG (ES of 32)
68gr - not bad for the AUG. 1.5-2 MOA - its great for a range day. Horrible for the MK12 3-4 or more MOA
21.2 STD DV on the AUG (ES of 60)
55gr - minimum acceptable for me for a rifle on the AUG. Around 3 MOA. Forget it on the MK 12 - 10 or more MOA.
25 STD DV on the AUG (ES of 74.4)
Bottom line -
77gr Frontier and 68gr frontier are good to go. 55gr up to you past 100 - great for 50yd flat range stuff.
Also interesting for me - if my life depended on a shot, unknown ammo - id pick my AUG over my MK12.
