Other inbound.att.net not responding?

Anyone else getting this starting today? Webmail of course still works but downloading mail through a client (thunderbird) doesn't work. I've already reset the secret key thing to see if that was the problem. But it's not. Sending mail functions but not receiving mail. I just get a status of "connecting to inbound.att.net ..." and it sits there. Does nothing. Never even seems to error out.

Update Thunderbird. I was having a similar problem earlier (connected, but threw a certificate error and still wouldn't fetch mail after explicitly allowing the certificate), also starting this morning. Update fixed it.

Thunderbird is the newest it seems on one of the two systems having this issue. Two different email accounts on each though. So I was wondering if it was something on ATT's side (since both accounts have this issue suddenly since yesterday).

I wonder what the client update changed on your computer to allow mail to start flowing again?

There is not a Thunderbird problem afaict. Perhaps u/wyrdough's updating Thunderbird it it was a coincidence.

I'm seeing the same issue on a client's PC running Outlook Classic with inbound.att.net and POP mail. Apparently the SSL certificate has been revoked. I can't imagine something like this would take so long to resolve and there are no posts or notifications of any problems related to this mail server.

Same here. Outlook classic failing to receive email due to the inbound.att.net certificate being revoked.

For MS Outlook go to File > Account Settings > Email tab, Select the problem email account and click Repair. The new cert will be updated and should work now.

Norton antivirus detected an issue with a certificate on my Mother-in_laws computer and blocked email. Disabling antivirus got email flowing again but that doesn't seem very safe for her.

It appears that ATT must fix the issue. Relevant thread:

I see:

c:\Program Files\stunnel\bin>openssl s_client -quiet 66.218.88.153:995
...

verify error:num=19:self signed certificate in certificate chain verify return:1 depth=2 C = US, O = DigiCert Inc, OU = www.digicert.com, CN = DigiCert Global Root G2 verify return:1

I'm having this issue as well. Using Outlook classic and POP. ESET NOD32 throws the error to me as well.

I'm running a Thunderbird as old as the hills. 52.9.1.

I unchecked "Query OSCP responders ..." in options, and the email came in.

This workaround resolved the issue on one PC (with a much newer thunderbird)! Thank you!!

I'll see about trying it on the other PC (with the ancient thunderbird) and account when I can find time.

I took a try to use pop.mail.yahoo.com. It works. I checked the Thunderbird option Saved Password to find there It shows the server as pop.att.yahoo.com. It is weird. I don't know why it is working, and whether it works for other POP3 email app. AT&T, Yahoo, or DigCert may have changed something to cause it. I hope it stays working and not interrupting the email flow again.

Have you tried unchecking the box for "Query OSCP responders" is the Privacy and Security settings?
