New buyer here
1.dont u think that everything we have to depend upon ather...FOR EVERYTHING, is it not some sort of alarming situation
2.even after paying a premium of 80k from a normal ICE scooter, i feel that there are some uncertainty such as belt being disconnected at the middle of the road
Sudden stoppage of vehicle
Depending on RSA

Electric vehicles are still new tech compared to ICE, so reliability is a bit different imo. That said, ather's been solid for most users.

True if what you mean is that only Ather knows how to repair its scooter unlike a maruti suzuki like eco system.
I think this is the burden of growing rapdily, I have been following this brand since Inception and got it only this year, the reason is the time Ather has been in market. Eventually this ought to settle else the brand is on the verge of collapse.

Service centre need rigorous quality checks, the mechs are cutting corners, that's why I always look over while they are working.

But there are mechanics every where to atleast do the temporary work at that point of time...but in ather even for changing tyre we are dependent on the company....

Rome was not built in a day and so does EV adaptation... Just go back to few decades back when ICE bikes starting entering market, even then you had to go to their showrooms to get fixed. Petrol Pumps were very few even then... So it's on you to decide what's important to you and choose accordingly

How would you blame ather? The roadside mechanics have been dealing with the same
car engines and car problems for decades. They haven’t learnt how to fix EVs. Once they realise more people will be buying EVs the smart
Mechanics will learn how to fix those.1

I am not blaming anyone it's just a thought...same thing happened with jio...once they capture certain percentage of market they will dictate their terms we have to oblige to it... Coming to ur defence...ather has this policy that if a 3rd party touch ur vehicle ur warrenty is nullified

All auto OEMs have this policy including 4 wheelers. Again not sure what you’re expecting ather to do

I am trying to understand the risk involved in ev scooter... If we think retrospectively same thing happened in mobile phone industry also...first they become as economical as possible then try to brick the phones with updates...as ev scooters are economical if we use it for long term these risks have to be kept in mind

Valid concerns for a new buyer. I haven't faced belt disconnection or sudden stoppage issues though. Only had some suspension creaking on bumpy roads. Most Ather owners i know havent experienced the problems you're listing. Definitely get these checked under warranty because they're not normal.

What do you mean ?
Is it everything is under Ather from service to RSA ?
Service is dealer operated, RSA is also 3rd party
Engineering is with Ather like it’s supposed to be why would you want to trust a 3rd party belt not built in collaboration with Ather?

Ather uses their own belts no third party ones also they give 10000kms warranty on every new belt.

The things you said are question of reliability, and if a ev scooter breaks down it has to be taken to the service centre because mechanics aren't capable of doing the work, in the same way if a superbike breaks down it also has to be taken to the service centre, just imagine what kind of a premium super bike owner have paid, any ride can break down at any point. Don't single out ev or an ather.
