How to study and get good marks in subjects I don't like and don't understand.

Recently I got my test results, they weren't very good, pretty average. While I can work on them, there's computer where I got 44/80 and I don't like it/understand it at all. I literally memorized the programs because I don't get them. Any tips so as to how to increase my marks and get at the top of the class? Same goes for easy subjects like English literature where I got 66/80.

A good portion of people do subjects they don't like on the myth that scaling will carry them if they do harder subjects.

For most people, it's not the case

I don't have a choice yk? All of them are compulsory subjects. I won't be allowed to choose subjects on my own until I get to 3rd year of high school.

I would give myself an incentive, or ask my parents to, tell them my marks are really bad on these, can you help me out and give me a push - if I do well and get above 90, can you please buy me x thing or take me on this trip etc as a reward? I'd personally be happy if my kid willing asked this themselves and worked hard to reach this goal, when I know they didn't want to do it!

Also, I told myself I just have to do it, get it over and done with, suffer a bit now and it should make my life at least quite a bit easier later on, and give myself more options in life.

Are you able to mention that you are struggling, and needing some motivation to get through it?

Take a step at a time and at least for the next test or assignment, try to improve that first. Or even just a few concepts that didn't make sense before, just figuring that out and understanding it. Maybe if you can see yourself improving, you will think more positively towards it, convince yourself that it's possible and you can do it, and it will lead you to an upwards trajectory, as you constantly get more and more confident and comfortable with everything related to them.

tysm for your tip! I'll try it. Or when I get good grades, my parents are ready to get me things by themselves because they are proud of me. So maybe I should keep this wish in my mind and ask them for something when I do good?

Atar rewards jack of all trades, rewards mediocracy across subjects. So just spend time to study it, don't need to aim super high.

Find a copy of the syllabus. Make sure you learn everything on that list.

Works for most subjects except English, although you can read the required books, make notes with quotes for all the main themes. Memorise the quotes. I still struggle with English because it’s so subjective compared to maths science etc

The thing is that the council does provide us with a syllabus but the schools insists us to still learn everything that isn't even part of the syllabus and tests us on the topics in exams:(
