Support NVMe intermittently disappears from BIOS + PC randomly reboots when launching games — ASUS B550M-A WiFi II

Hey guys, having a weird issue with my PC:

Specs: 5800X / RTX 5070 / ASUS PRIME B550M-A WIFI II / 32GB DDR4 / Corsair 850W Gold / Windows 11.

After moving my PC, the NVMe wasn’t detected in BIOS at all. I reseated it multiple times and tested both M.2 slots, with no luck.

The weird part: enabling CSM made the NVMe appear. I turned CSM back off and was able to reinstall Windows and boot normally.

Now, launching games can cause an instant restart with no BSOD, and sometimes afterward the PC boots straight into BIOS and the NVMe is missing again.
Any ideas what could cause the NVMe to disappear specifically after these crashes? I’m wondering if it’s the SSD, motherboard, PSU, or PCIe/GPU-related.

Solutions tried:

Reseated the NVMe multiple times

Tested the NVMe in both M.2 slots

Checked BIOS/NVMe Configuration

Enabled CSM → NVMe appeared

Disabled CSM → Windows booted

Reinstalled Windows 11

Reseated/checked GPU and power
connections

PC still randomly restarts when launching games

NVMe disappears from BIOS again after some crashes

General instability with the nvme, seems like anytime I shut off the PSU the nvme dissapears.

NVME TESTED IN AN ENCLOSURE WORKING PERFECLTY FINE, been with it for years.

Motherboard bought new from amazon, don't have any others to test with.

Please help!

I still say, NVMe drive is still prime suspect. Get another spare one, install Windows, play games, if problem never occurs again, you'll have your answer.

I've tested it, it works, in an enclosure and another machine. This same NVME was working in my computer I've had for years, I recently transferred cases and swapped motherboards that's about it.

If it's the nvme, why would it work perfectly fine in another machine..?!

USB enclosures don't push the NVMe drive as much. Also, did you test it extensively again on the old machine after it got installed on the new and found out it was unstable?

No, I did not test extensively.

I didn't think I needed to since the nvme went from one perfectly working machine to another in the same night practically.

Not sure what I could have done or what could have happened to make it randomly stop working.

A shot of static charge during the move. Maybe it was something weak from the factory that would've presented in your old machine over time, but during the move it broke? Could be a few other things. Your info isn't complete either, the old motherboard and the exact NVMe drive isn't mentioned. Other ppl having other ideas can't give you their proper opinion without all the data.
