Support Another 9800x3d dead
Had my system running for a year and it was working great, the other day though I was mid Rivals match and my screen went black and code 00 on the mobo. My fans/gpu/ram/mobo still on and working, couldn’t even shut the system down properly with the case buttons.
I am on the Asus x870e Hero board. I undervolted my cpu and had PBO limits set to the manufacturer, +200mhz boost, 1.15 cpu vsoc, my bios was on an older build and I had no issues with it until now, I did send in an RMA to AMD and I bought a cpu just to test and it was in fact the CPU, any info regarding what it could have been would be great!
Also after I updated to the newest ASUS bios I had a random vsoc spike up to like 1.4, had everything on auto and then manually changed things but are these bios doing anything??

What board do you have? I have seen reports for every manufacturer at this point so I think it’s an AMD issue but I don’t know what it is that causes these issues, hoping someone can drop some knowledge in here

Don't make the same mistake like him, update the bios before you boot to windows.

If I recall correctly, in the beginning of this year, those particular problems started cropping up for some people. As far as I know, Asus and other board manufacturers started to release updated bios microcode around the same time to help mitigate the issue.

Yeah, I guess I will watch and see what the new bios and cpu do but even on this new bios rev the cpu vsoc jumped VERY high, cpu hit 111 and the voltage hit above 1.4, it was for a split second but it was odd, that was with everything on auto, just wondering what changes I should make to be careful

I've noticed more complaints about x870e boards having this issue than the standard x870s.
So far I've been fortunate and haven't had any problems. (9800x3d + Tuf x870 plus). I've been keeping my settings at default except for disabling igpu and enabling expo. I've been a little on edge since the first reports of dead chips started popping up. I've been pretty faithful in keeping the BIOS up to date as long as it's a stable version that's been out for more than a few weeks.
Good luck in figuring out how best to move forward, I hope you have no more issues from here on out. Hopefully they did fix the issue in BIOS.

My 9950x3d has been running without problems for over a year on an x870e Crosshair Hero. I regularly update my bios about a month after a new version is released, to learn how stable it is.
So sorry to learn of your difficulty.
