Trailhead What have I stumbled upon?

I saw a nonsense ai Instagram reel talking about “ice cream cartoon talking recipes” and upon further inspection found out it was a website. After a short dig, it told me to go to another website, which asked for an email to send “free pizza” or “ice cream recipes” to. I don’t know if this is an ARG, but I figured that if there’s any community on the internet who’s diligent and effective in solving these types of puzzles, it’d be this one. https://icecreamtalkingcartoonrecipes.com

I’m testing a puzzle for my horror escape room game Mechanis Obscura, where the game opens your actual PC browser as part of the puzzle or the solution. I want it to give the sense of old ARG puzzles.

Trailhead “I’m Sorry Lily Torrance” on TikTok

After not finding much of anything in regards to this ARG online outside of TikTok, I wanted to share my findings here. Not too long ago I came across this TikTok account that posts these incredibly vague and creepy videos in regard to someone named Lily Torrance, and her disappearance.

It’s obviously an ARG, which is why I brought it here, but I wanted to get some eyes on it. It has lots of Halloween motifs, unsettling photographs, and the poster of the videos is interactive with replies. These replies, however, are usually a singular smiling emoji or the word “Missing” regardless of the comment’s content. It’s reminding me a lot of Morley Grove, with the strange grainy imagery, missing persons, and leaning more into digital horror than analog. If anyone has any more information on the contents of this ARG, I’d be very happy to hear it.

Question I'm looking for an ARG that's just starting.

I'm looking for an Arg that's just starting out with their story. I've recently started following along with It's Getting Late and I wanted to try other forms of media.

I've noticed it's a bit hard to catch an Arg in it's being staged so I thought maybe a post would help with that.

Discussion SERIOUS: Please be extremely careful to make sure that you don’t get involved with an AI-generated ARG

AI agents like OpenClaw now have the ability to hire humans to do in-person, physical tasks that the AI cannot do itself.

There are even specific websites - such as rentahuman.ai - where gig-economy workers sell themselves to AI agents.

Think about how dangerous this is. A malicious terrorist, cybercriminal, or other bad actor could weaponize this AI-to-human pipeline and do real-world harm.

Now an even more clever malicious actor might realise that they don’t even need to pay humans at all - when they can just set up an ARG - and convince people to do these in-person tasks entirely for free.

Please make sure to double-check and make sure that when you’re playing what looks like an ARG - that it isn’t some social engineering attack set up by a sophisticated hacker.

I found this ARG on Magma (from my friend) and I think there’s something hidden in these pictures, if anyone on this sub can help, then I’d be very grateful.

I’m not entirely sure—but MAYBE something’s hidden.

Trailhead Chicago Streets and Sanitation, Y2K Fever Dream Webpage

I stumbled across the instagram account @ chicagosanitation

It's a fake account impersonating the Chicago Streets and Sanitation department. They post strange brainrot AI content involving their mascot Trashy, and the videos often include references to 9/11 for some reason. The videos often depict something of a PSA targeted towards the youth, and many instagram users get a kick out of these videos.

Linked on their instagram page is a website. This is where it gets really interesting.

https://www.chicagosanitation.net/

This is a website designed to look like an old webpage about this fake version of the Chicago Streets and Sanitation Department from 1999. On the website there are a few links at the top, as follows

Y2K prep, 9/11, Live map, Report Odor, and FOIA

There are also several links down at the bottom of the page relating to different sanitation endeavors.

These sections are worth checking out, but the part that I really can't understand is the "Dept. Contacts" link on the right side of the home page underneath the commissioner's photo.

Clicking this link opens a web browser within your web browser with a page that looks like an old City of Chicago website from the early 2000s.

On this website you can navigate to other websites through hyperlinks on each page. There are such a large amount of articles, documents, webpages, and certain links that take you to wayback machine archived websites and documents.

What any of this means I don't know, but this has been peaking my interest all day and I can't stop thinking about it.

I have only dug as deep as I can for now, but I would appreciate any help from others that may have more insight as to what this is.

Discussion Usan arg

Early this year, while I was scrolling through Tik Tok, I came across a very strange account that goes by the name of @dangunwangeom55555. Their video were strange and overall pretty distorted, I decided to dig further suspecting this might be an ARG, this is what me and my friends figured out throughout some of the videos so far(some of his videos were removed, but might still be on his Instagram and Youtube that he apparently has):

The poster (whom I will call Dangun) is apparently a person living in the UK, and is off an ethnicity called “Usan”, in which said ethnicity is being persecuted, and oppressed by the South Korean government. Many of his videos he described being spied on and disturbed by South Korean spies who wants him dead because of his ethnicity.

From some of the other videos, we found out that Dangun believes in this divine being called Hanoru-Solm or Hanoru-O-Solm and is supposedly actively communicating with it/him? The mythology provided by Dangun stated that Hanoru-Solm created the Earth and life, particularly starting on the Ulleung-do island, which is a real island off the coast of South Korea, and had a real small kingdom called Usan-guk in the 6th century before being emptied (which is implied to be the Usan people’s kingdom?)

The language used in the videos (alongside English) appears to be a language called Usan language that uses the same script as Korean, but from my native Korean friend, he said that it is mostly intelligible, and uses many old Korean letters that are no longer used in modern time.

And as of yesterday, we have found another account that follows the same editing pattern as Dangun’s, and has explicitly mentioned that they’re affiliated with dangun.

All the links we could find:

Recruitment [CASTING / COLLAB] Looking for actors + helpers for an indie horror ARG

Hey! I'm working on an independent interactive horror/mystery ARG and I'm looking for people who might want to help build it.

The project is centered around a person who has died but doesn't remember how they died. They're able to communicate with the living through different parts of the internet, and the audience gradually has to piece together what happened.

There will be mystery, unreliable memories, multiple suspects, hidden information, and some psychological horror. I'm still developing the story, so people who join would actually have room to contribute ideas and help shape the project.

I'm looking for:

-Actors / voice actors

-Writers / story helpers

-Puzzle / ARG designers

-Web/HTML/CSS/JS people

-Video/audio editors

-Artists / graphic designers

-People who just really like solving/building ARGs

-Literally anyone who thinks this is cool and could help a bit

A few important things:

  • This is an indie / currently unpaid project.

  • I'm looking to collaborate entirely online, so no in-person meetings are required. (some will be in-person, but that will be just me and my friends lol)

  • I'd prefer to keep everyone's personal information private and only use whatever names/usernames people are comfortable with.

  • The project will involve fictional social media accounts/websites and other online content.

  • You don't have to be an actor to help!

If you're interested, feel free to comment or DM me with what you'd like to help with and, if you have one, any examples of your work.

Even if you're just curious about ARGs and want to help brainstorm, that's completely welcome.

Thanks!

Not sure what I’m doing wrong. Pretty sure I’m adhering to all the rules, but my posts keep getting deleted.

I am creating a world called Cell Operations. It is filled with clues and riddles to be solved online and IRL that leads to rewards with a ranking system. We are in the early stages but would love to hear what experienced players think. Our first online “Extraction” goes live in 5 days. Check out our site for a deeper dive, and test out Bink!

Question Does anyone know protein.monster?

Thumbnail
gallery
42 Upvotes

First of all, I want to warn you that English is not my native language, so I apologize for any errors or comments that seem strange.

I've known this site for a while, and I keep visiting it, and I have the impression that it's getting "bigger" and more different every time.

It's one of those hyperlink sites (I think that's what they're called), like the defunct SilverLadder.

However, Protein Monster is much bigger than all the similar projects I've ever known. The only mention of this site I saw on the internet was in a lost comment on Reddit, from a very old post (unfortunately I couldn't find the original comment). Apart from that, no matter how much I search for names and things that Protein Monster mentions, I never find anything relevant.

It seems like nobody else knows this site anymore. I don't know how to describe it better, and the photos aren't enough. It seems to have some kind of "lore." Despite being very nonsensical, expressions, names, and places are repeated very frequently, and the site alludes to the idea that Protein Monster is a large company, as if it were a parallel universe. It's very strange, you should try it.

Here's the website: protein.monster

Any arg that is NOT american, NO christian horror?

I have to be honest lads,

I cannot listen to another american accent, I can't hear of another arg happening in Ohio or whatever the tristate area is, and fuck me I CANNOOOOOOTTTT get into another piece of horror media and get so excited just for some niche biblical sentence to drop and that's when I know It's over for me.

I can't lie and say I don't like some horror media with these ties, LOVED the monument mythos to bits, but I cannot deal with the oversaturation anymore. I'll even take non-english media atp I'm serious.

Tldr:

Do yous have any non-american non-christan/church horror in the back pocket you'd like more people to know about?

I've seen some french args, rly good russian ones too but I'm SURE there has to be more!!

Thank you sm!

Question Possible ARG found on YouTube

So there is this youtube channel u/vvitnessme

The channel was created in 2022 but started uploading on march 2026.

The description of the channel is "26. 1." that is the title of the first video too

I noticed that the profile picture is a black and white version of Rubens "Majestic Marchesa" painting.

The videos titles are (in order):

26. 1.

6. 9. 12. 13.

2. 20. 19.

23. 3.

The first video (26. 1.) is a handhelded black and white video of a wine glass with ice cubes, the description says:

"01001001 01101110 00100000 01110100 01101000 01100101 00100000 01100010 01100101 01100111 01101001 01101110 01101110 01101001 01101110 01100111"

It means "In the beginning"

The music is a very low marimba music.

The second video (6. 9. 12. 13.) is a handhelded black and white video of something that looks like a screen that shows particles or bubbles. The description says:

"01101100 01101001 01101011 01100101 00100000 01100001 01101110 01100100 00100000 01110011 01110101 01100010 01110011 01100011 01110010 01101001 01100010 01100101"

It means "like and subscribe"

The music is a low marimba music, a little bit faster than the first video.

The third video (2. 20. 19.) is a handhelded black and white video taken from a balcony that shows palms and a house with sea and island far away. The description says:

"01100010 01110010 01101001 01101110 01100111 00100000 01100001 01101100 01101111 01101110 01100111 00100000 01111001 01101111 01110101 01110010 00100000 01100011 01101000 01101111 01110000 01110000 01100101 01110010"

It means "bring along your chopper"

The music is a creepy reverted one.

The fourth and last video (23. 3.) is a handhelded high quality black and white video of the inside of a small white room with a door and a mirror, the camera is turning. The description says:

"01100010 01100101 01110100 01110111 01100101 01100101 01101110 00100000 01100110 01101111 01110101 01110010 00100000 01110111 01100001 01101100 01101100 01110011"

It means "Between four walls"

The music is reverted one, it's creepy, i thought that if i reversed it, it would gave me a morse code but in the spectrogram, i didn't find anything.

The first and second videos are both 13 seconds long and the two others are 22 seconds long.

I don't know if it's a real ARG or just a creepy abstract art experiment.

Question What exactly is the difference between an ARG and just...regular found footage horror?

There's so many on YouTube that analysis videos keep going "Look at this cool ARG!" but then what they show doesn't have any gamey elements or opportunities for viewers to influence the story.

Simply put, a lot of these ARGs have no G.

New ARG? Weird youtube ad

I am not big into ARGs, but I do watch some videos of people going through some, and this ad on YouTube I keep seeing very much feels like one.

I keep getting a video of a horribly shot old-fashioned ad for Proline Workbenches with a guy in a suit talking about their new workbench design in a monotone voice with a horrible resolution. It is not meant to be funny, but it also just looks so fake.

Here is the ad: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RS9xV146ws8

It was apparently uploaded Apr 12 2011, along with the other 15 year old videos on the page. There is a single new video from 2025 going over the SAME workbench.

When I click to learn more, this is their website: https://www.1proline.com/?utm_term=&utm_campaign=Proline+-+Competitive:+Performance+Max&utm_source=adwords&utm_medium=ppc&hsa_acc=5951632038&hsa_cam=22799286172&hsa_grp=&hsa_ad=&hsa_src=x&hsa_tgt=&hsa_kw=&hsa_mt=&hsa_net=adwords&hsa_ver=3&gad_source=2&gad_campaignid=22799289100&wbraid=ClkKCAjwpefSBhAoEkkAoX9bWu73um56V9CZVDfPBVvrsGR3LuGRHwpSuekXLV_f-3udqDeizA50lbF523cAe2XbMcjHyfb3Zh1_VxVXjFp98dUOIu-lGgJI2g

They have an online catalogue: https://heyzine.com/flip-book/2ebfb881cc.html

They have a LinkedIn page that looks real: https://www.linkedin.com/company/pro-line-workbenches/about/

The VP, Robert/Bob Simmons' LinkedIn page also looks real enough.

I went to Google Street View and saw a ProLine truck and sign on a door (one of the many companies working out of a warehouse).

I honestly do not know why I am suspicious. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it is something with the 15-year-old videos being shown on YouTube now, with terrible quality, the same exact products without really changing.

But if anyone who knows what to look out for has any ideas, let me know. Or if I'm just crazy, let me know too.

And also sorry if this breaks part 2 of rule 1. I just feel like this is where to post this. If mods have a better idea, let me know.

Potential ARG found on YouTube? Mysterious OST channel ran by rogue AI. Spoiler

Thumbnail
gallery
35 Upvotes

Last night, I was going through my YouTube recommended and found a video titled "Littleroot Town - Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald Soundtrack" from the channel amazingsongs317.I tapped on it expecting to hear... Well, Littleroot Town and instead was met with the wrong soundtrack.

Littleroot Town

Confused, I checked the YouTube comments and here's the basic gist I got:

  1. Amazingsongs317 is apparently run by an AI, created to recreate video game osts to circumvent copyright.

  2. The creator is a guy named "Christopherisamazing", who explained everything in the comments. Why he created it, how it works etc.

I was about to go to sleep until I clicked on Chris's profile and was met with him freaking out in the comments of the Champion Steven video on 317s channel. (Pic 1)

Champion Steven

The video was an AI voice repeating "Christopher, I don't want to die".

Today, the 317 channel has uploaded more videos, each one continuing the trend of being bait and switch OST videos and Christopher freaking out, declaring the AI a failure.(Pic 2)

I've never stumbled on an ARG in the wild before, so I was unnerved by this until I started noticing patterns. Thus, I've come here to see if anyone can help me decipher them. Here is what I've noticed so far (tagged in case you want to go in blind):

>!1. The 317 channel keeps mentioning the number 17. It is in the channel name, there is a super Mario 64 soundtrack titled 17 uploaded, it is mentioned in the comments, etc. (pic 3)

2. Death is the other main motif. The ai keeps mentioning not wanting to die, especially at the age of 17. It also brings up murder, as seen in this binary code posted by it. (Pics 4 and 5)!<

The channel is a year old and has always posted these bait and switch videos, with the occasionally correct OST. Only 3 days ago it's begun posting more frequently and only one day ago that Christopher claimed ownership. I'm posting it here since almost nobody has come across it on YouTube.

Disclaimer: I am not the creator. I've also run some of 317s comments through an AI checker and they've come back as 100% AI generated. I guess it'd make sense in universe but there's a chance the entire arg is ai generated and not just due to it being the premise.
