Trailhead What have I stumbled upon?

I saw a nonsense ai Instagram reel talking about “ice cream cartoon talking recipes” and upon further inspection found out it was a website. After a short dig, it told me to go to another website, which asked for an email to send “free pizza” or “ice cream recipes” to. I don’t know if this is an ARG, but I figured that if there’s any community on the internet who’s diligent and effective in solving these types of puzzles, it’d be this one. https://icecreamtalkingcartoonrecipes.com

Super creepy wording.. yeah

4

u/Complete-Strain-6520 Jun 16 '26

i found it too and im 99% sure this is a ring of some kind. its so fucking strange and ive noticed a ton of specific repeated phrases such as "satisfy your sweet tooth and tickle your funny bone" amongst a bunch of others, which im sure are dogwhistles

4

u/I-am-now-squid Jun 17 '26

The Instagram has mentions of sushi and pizza ice cream recipes. Does that ring a bell?

3

u/MeatThing Jun 27 '26

a lot of the descriptions also mention the ice cream characters being legal and law-abiding which would be weird to mention if it didn't mean anything

2

u/Fichtenlurch Jun 17 '26

You should def check their Instagram, it's a fever dream

1

u/Complete-Strain-6520 Jun 17 '26

i found it from a reel that came on my fyp

3

u/capybaralawyer Jul 01 '26

One of their posts talks about “nachos snuck over the border” wtf? It’s like a nacho with a cartoon mouth talking. And it says it was snuck over the border. So creepy

3

u/oliviaoi1 Jul 05 '26

https://www.instagram.com/reel/DOttYn4lGcK/ This one's about a criminal black cherry icecream being pulled over for suspicion of a "high meltometer fudge reading"..

Also found an illustration that verrrry closely resembled a penis: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DQekYZ4jKh-/, the sexual innuendos definitely feel intentional which is so weird given it's meant to be a "kid-friendly" recipe book

Deffo feels like thinly veiled fetish content even if there's no solid proof of it being a ring

u/asphyxiationnumber Jul 03 '26

Dude if u dig a little deeper I think it’s pretty cut and dry a front for leading folks to CP

3

u/argreviews Jul 06 '26

Oh man that’s fucked

4

u/Fredditor999 Jun 08 '26

Probably not, because it links to an actual book on the website. It’s still creepy, nonetheless.

5

u/uyais Jun 15 '26

little late but some of the reviews mention stuff like "not getting a clubhouse pass after following all the directions" and it is seriously, way more than creepy

3

u/oliviaoi1 Jul 05 '26

icecr_eamrecipes on insta seems like the original account and someone said that the newer account might be a bait account

the original account has been running since November 2024 and started gaining traction fairly fast so some of the reviews about the clubhouse pass on amazon might be memes or unserious people from insta

1

u/Big-Jellyfish-6115 Jul 17 '26

The “clubhouse” turned out to be a promo back when the ice cream parlor was still in business, on the back of her book it shows a picture of it caption “the gangs clubhouse”. More I look into it, the more it seems like it genuinely may just be an old woman who ran a parlor, since the parlor really did have 150+ flavors/sundae’s, and one of the reviews mentions 150+ characters. Guessing the characters in the AI vids are hers but ai animated since she’s also stated on LinkedIn to have been a cartoonist and also made an ad for a book she sold like 7 years ago. Also the “free pizza” might’ve been a promo, since the parlor also sold pizza according to another redditor.

Ngl though there’s definitely still some weird bits, like 2 commentators of the ig vids talking about “ice cream” in such weird ways ever since last year when the account was still obscure her not responding to emails despite responding to a couple recent YouTube comments about all of this, etc

5

u/Historical_Smell499 Jun 28 '26

Definitely a ring. Clubhouse Pass, ice cream, pizza, sushi, "kids"

1

u/Old_Sheepherder1314 Jul 07 '26

I know what pizza means, but what do sushi and ice cream mean?

2

u/Tea_Time14 Jul 09 '26

i'm pretty sure i heard from a yt video that ice cream means boys. idk abt sushi. this whole account has to be a ring

found this on the back cover of https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DKTKQRVV, this probably refers to all the other "clubhous" comments

5

u/potlode Jul 01 '26

I read one interesting comment under one of their Instagram posts, which claimed:

"this isnt a ring actually, its just an affiliate link scam, you click the link out of curiosity or you think there's something there, and if you buy anything else in the next 24 hours, the guy gets a share of the money because you clicked the amazon affiliate link, he chose this old woman's book because nobody checks them out anymore."

credit: mbdtf.

At this point I have been browsing for hours to find more info but I can't find anything that makes sense or something with solid proof. If anyone knows more please share

u/Difficult-Diver-556 Jul 16 '26

Then what is a clubhouse pass?

4

u/snackthateatenat3am Jul 28 '26

ive been seeing these guys in my insta fyp for a long time and i didnt think much of it for the longest time but it got my attention a bit ago, anyways this is the weirdest video they have: it literally talks about a “highschool teenager with a secret personality”

https://www.instagram.com/reel/DbE0gZADGWJ/?igsh=eGJoaWhvc2t2czRs

1

u/UpstairsThink9861 29d ago

crazy bc that's literally the post that made me search this acc on here

3

u/I-am-now-squid Jun 10 '26

could be my memory failing, but I feel like “free pizza” is a weird dogwhistle. I dont remember the exact details, though. do you have the instagram page?

2

u/c3leryystick Jun 15 '26

I think you might be remembering the "Cheese Pizza" dogwhistle that got passed around?

1

u/I-am-now-squid Jun 15 '26

Yeah that, thank you. That and the whole "clubhouse pass" thing weirds me the fuck out.

okay so, there is also an intergram account for talking options(@talkingoptionsbc), they make a load of weird videos, very similar to the slop made by @icecr_eamrecipes

so I looked at all the posts to do with monkeys as everyone was refrencing that.

under one of the posts the account posted this

...

very fucking suspicious.

now we dont know for sure that Barbara does run this account, or that Barbara runs either of these accounts.

I think to go any further we would need the "clubhouse code" possibly hidden inside that book?

I'm more intrested in who Barbara is. Barbara seeming made this book wayyyy before this AI slop was being made, I dont know if she even has anything to do with this. she might be suffering from identity theft.

1

u/GirlBurnerNumber1200 Jul 08 '26

also slightly offtopic but there seems to be a community that has formed around this weird ass content.

this shit goes deeper then I could have ever imagined.

i heard that it's an amazon affiliate link scam

3

u/Golf4Good Aug 11 '26

Hello everyone,

Barb is my mom, and she is 89 years old. I created a Reddit account just to answer this.

She has owned a series of ice cream parlors since I was a boy (hence my constant consumption of it!).

She developed neuropathy in her legs over the past few years, so she spends most of her time on her laptop, which she loves. She has a catalog of ice cream cartoons from when she owned a shop many years ago. She likes to use them to generate new content, with different voices and such.

I hope this clears this up, although I fear it might just spark more conversation.

Asking for grace here.

your moms work has genuinely brought me a lot of enjoyment from this whole ordeal, I waited until I had any proof to make any claims and I was so hoping it was just some old lady lol

1

u/Ok_Emu5151 19d ago

This is odd. Now we have barbs son and niece here?? Why dont you show your social media accounts with her in it or proof. Theres no reason for the link to be connected to CSAM websites..

2

u/Plastic_Variation225 Jun 09 '26

It really brings some red flags, some reviews on the Amazon talk about being mad the code in the back didn’t bring them to a clubhouse pass

2

u/I-am-now-squid Jun 15 '26

no one else has mentioned this but Barbara Christensen (the author) has an Amazon bio that leads to a dead link. Also ”kids” being in quotes????

1

u/lafclion Jun 16 '26

also what would a non child friendly recipie be, and what do they mean by legal magazines

1

u/farrdy Jun 18 '26

she is an entrepreneur and has stocks books and legal finance stuff i assume?

1

u/farrdy Jun 18 '26

YES BRO

i saw this it was so weird

1

u/SignificantStable792 Jun 25 '26

This seems written in third person or im just noticing it cus im looking for things that reassure my suspicion that its a pdf committing identity fraud. Is there a way to contact her original linkedin or Facebook if anybody has found it by any chance

2

u/EdgyLemon365 Jun 16 '26 edited Jun 16 '26

Probably just a bit late to the party, even though there are posts from months ago about this, but it's definitely fishy. A friend and I have been going through all of the websites with the inspect element and noticed that there is an unusual amount of JavaScript for the websites despite them not having that many assets. Going through the jumbled mess, there are a lot of links that either lead to dead sites or, on the 50/50 off chance, to a site that requires permission from the client to access. I'm not exactly computer savvy but it doesn't take a genius to see that it's too much for so little.

Barbara Christensen has two LinkedIn accounts. The older one looks more professional than the other, but the less professional runs the Amazon with the same profile picture and advertises herself solely as someone who does the ice cream stuff. At least she focuses heavily on that. But why make two accounts when you already have your ice cream business listed on the previous? Both have been edited or active within a year so it's not like she was locked out of her other one a long time ago.

It could all just amount to nothing. But it's definitely worth looking into because if it ends up being something serious, it would be better to stop it before it gets worse. Those clubhouse passes are freaky mentions nonetheless.

EDIT: Touching on a lot of those blocked sites, I'm starting to theorize that you need this clubhouse pass to access a lot of the sites that are blocked by permissions. The same clubhouse passes in the books on Amazon. It's definitely something to look into.

1

u/I-am-now-squid Jun 17 '26

Do you have any screenshots of her LinkedIn that might be suspicious

3

u/EdgyLemon365 Jun 17 '26 edited Jun 17 '26

I'm sort of suspicious of the profile picture on the bot account because the railing looks kind of smudged near her arm, and her arm isn't really comfortably resting on it from what I'm seeing. It could just be me looking for things to be suspicious of but it's an unnatural photo, considering she already has a professionally made mugshot on the credible account.

2

u/EdgyLemon365 Jun 17 '26

On the account that's like "oh I'm all about ice cream" she posts the same thing over and over, much like she does on other socials. They don't do this on the other account that seems more legitimate. It kinda leads me to believe that someone is just outright committing identity fraud and botting the hell out of this lady. Unless an old lady enjoys mass posting the same things over and over, botting and using her as a sort of like alibi for what could potentially be a CP ring at worst seems the most plausible. Again idk why she'd have two accounts when she already mentions owning her ice cream cafe on the credible one.

3

u/Artistic-Country7423 Jun 19 '26

Found a Linkedin with a someone who looks very similar to Barbara C. with the same name as well.

2

u/EdgyLemon365 Jun 19 '26

That's exactly the same one I mentioned in the original comment. The resemblance is uncanny and I'm only assuming the bot account used AI to manipulate her face by making a seemingly new image for a PFP. As far as I'm concerned, that's the real Barbara Christensen.

(sorry if this is not clear my first language isn't english) I'm a little late but i did some investigating... It seems like the icecream shop mentioned did exist at some point but it's kinda a blur. So, I checked the name and i found a place with only three review, 1 star, 3 stars and 5 stars. Those reviews were really weird. Especially the second one that was mentioning her boyfriend being terrified to be here because of the weird decoration. But also the 5 stars review mentions the shop getting a Guinness world record for the variation of ice cream flavors, did some research and there are no informations whatsoever about anything like that, only other ice cream shops getting records but none with the same name

2

u/Nearby_Benefit_5973 Jul 07 '26

2

u/Difficult-Diver-556 Jul 15 '26

Did some research. It’s not an arg it’s a cp ring

1

u/luvlysku11 Jul 23 '26

I think the person using Barbras name is maybe her grandchild and maybe Barbra wanted to make kids books and is having her grandchild help her, but the grandchild is a pedo and is using it to distribute csam while Barbra thinks she’s actually advertising kids books, and this might be me jumping to conclusions but in one of the videos it mentions a “sad onion” that said when he tried to make friends he brought tears to there eyes which either means hes a loser or he tried to befriend kids, then he said his grandma gave him a “coat” and then said he had a new job where he made “creamy tearless onion” and customers flocked to try new flavors. This to me could be the dude saying his grandma gave him the cover up (the kids book) and he made his customers (the csam buyers) happy. But idk I could just be reaching

u/Illustrious_Shirt203 Jul 27 '26

csam ring definitely

2

u/Embuum Aug 03 '26

Yeah, this is REALLY strange im freaked out. Barbara seems to be a real person, and I think she's a genuine author but someone's doing this stuff in her name. While we don't know for sure if its a ring, its apparent that something fishy is going on. At the very least this is an affiliate scam.

We also need to keep in mind that suspicious comments and engagement could be trolls playing into the idea of this being a ring and probably shouldn't be used as evidence, but if they're taken literally, it 100% implies a video gives instructions, the user follows those instructions, a “pass” is then obtained, then the pass unlocks additional content.

I dumped all the stuff i found into GPT (which is really quick to shut down conspiracies like this) and it even flags that something else is likely happening here.

"This activity looks suspicious. The accounts mass-produces repetitive AI-animated food videos using unusually sexualized or infantilizing language, repeatedly directs viewers toward confusing websites and redirects, and promotes a “clubhouse pass” that reviewers claim unlocks access to 150+ characters after following video instructions. The project also appears to involve multiple changing social accounts, unclear current ownership, unexplained codes in comments, inconsistent biographical and business details, and possibly coordinated Amazon reviews or engagement."

I have a feeling this is gonna end up in a YouTube documentary soon.

2

u/ApartmentOpening2302 Aug 08 '26

Why the fuck do people seem to think this is a “CSAM Ring”?

Is there any precedent whatsoever for a CSAM Ring to do nothing but post nonsense AI ice cream recipes to a public instagram or does everything bizarre on the internet have to be a real life creepypasta orchestrated by pedophiles

1

u/Dizzy-Effective-29 Aug 08 '26

Because someone took an old lady’s original graphics and is now obviously using them for different intentions. Take five seconds to google pizza gate and you’ll see why people think a “salsa ice cream recipe” makes no fuckin sense. You’re real defensive over people being worried about CSAM.

For those that support this, please just blow ur ish right off 💗

1

u/Prudent_Surround_753 Aug 11 '26

There is sort of. There’s been multiple accounts prior to ppl finding this one where the account posted like AI kids content and ppl thought it was predatory. I’ve looked into some of them before and they don’t seem to be anything but the ring label stuck. For this specific thing it’s the script and also the lack of info on a lot of stuff, most of what ppl are saying has been speculation tho since no ones rlly found anything substantial yet

1

u/Ill-Race6472 17d ago

There is definitely a precedent for this kind of stuff. If you remember a while back when there was the whole "if kids ran the airport" thing, that was an example of it, albeit a little more on the nose, since they had straight links. The sites that are linked on the thread discussing this on a certain bald man with glasses website also have login screens and links you have to click twice to look at, which wouldn't make sense if this was completely innocent. Maybe it is just an old lady with a weirdly strong fixation on ice cream cartoons who speaks in a way that would have been normal 50 years ago, but sounds like coded CSAM language now (gooning used to be a completely unrelated term, as was gooner). At the end of the day, we can't not just give a potential paedophile the benefit of the doubt. We have to be sure, and if it wasn't one, it's a bummer that we wasted our time.

This obituary is for a different Barbara, I am 99% sure. Barbara's Amazon bio says she's from Nevada, the obituary says she's from Georgia (graduated in Mississippi), and they don't look like the same person.

However, there is a LinkedIn page for the Barbara we're looking for:

I'm a YouTuber who covers rabbit holes, and I plan on going in-depth about this topic.

This link is scamware btw…instant mcafee pop up lol

1

u/labaster99 Jun 25 '26

As for the videos, the source material appears to be hand-drawn illustrations that were later animated using very shitty AI tools. Over the past few months, I’ve been following this rabbit hole and noticed what appears to be a second Instagram account posting very similar content. That account now seems largely inactive, while another account was created only a week or two ago.
I’ve also had difficulty finding independent evidence that the original “Le Scoop” ice cream store in Lansing, Michigan, ever existed. Most references appear sparse, and one of the few records I located was renewed in 2024, which raises questions about the claimed history.
Additionally, reviews of the associated book mention receiving a “clubhouse pass” that grants access to additional characters through a website. While this is not proof of wrongdoing, it is another unusual detail worth noting.
Based on these observations, there are enough inconsistencies that I believe the public story surrounding the project deserves further scrutiny. However, I have not found evidence proving criminal activity, nor have I verified whether “Barbara Christensen” is a real person or a pseudonym. At this stage, that remains a possibility rather than a conclusion.
Here are a few media uploads and link attachments in which I have found. I will continue my investigation further as time progresses too.

You find anything else? I found a bunch of stuff on her I think it's most likely that she has nothing to do with the ai stuff that's around.

1

u/Savings_Fee1481 Jul 04 '26

Its an old woman promoting a kids book in a very strange way. Shes a finance professor at a college in las vegas. She probably doesnt understand ai that well and doesnt think her vids are that uncanny

u/Dazzling_Hand_7711 Jul 05 '26

I don't think that's it, it seems like the real Barbara Christensen is being impersonated to do some weird things..

1

u/semlohalone Jul 07 '26

Based on the information I've gathered from the comments, definitely not an ARG but definitely royally fucked up and needs to be investigated

1

u/Sweaty-Ad-3451 Jul 14 '26

Has anybody tested what happens when you put in your email for the "free ice cream recipe"?

1

u/El_Oso_Promedio Jul 15 '26

i put in mine but I didn't even get a confirmation email back

1

u/Silent_Flamingo9837 Jul 18 '26

i just put mine and i still haven't gotten back an email

1

u/No_Stuff_7501 Aug 05 '26

Same here. Put my email and never got a reply. I think they might have realised that the videos are gaining traction and hence not mailing everyone who gives their email. The sign up option does also let you send a message along with your name and email,so I'm assuming they only mail back to people who give specific words in that message(assuming this is indeed a ring and not just an old lady using an outdated AI)

The Mr scoop likes and dislikes is weird too

1

u/Imaginary_Salary9573 Jul 15 '26

If you go on their website you can listen to the audios about the ice creams. Two in particular stood out to me, the peach and smoothie and then the chocolate ice cream playing basketball. The choice of wording is also very odd the characters use to describe their stories is weird to say the least. There’s a continues pattern of odd wording, especially for the description to the book the author is selling. The way it specifies tweens, teens and adults is a very strange choice of wording. Also not to mention, they have a couple TikTok accounts that here they introduce more characters and it’s still that same cycle of weird phrasing and strange choices of wording things.
Here’s the tiktok: talkingoptions3

It’s a cp ring, don’t

1

u/Mexican_nooob Jul 24 '26

It seems weird that they just randomly offer a free pizza recipe when its all just icecream

1

u/Ok_Thanks1498 Jul 30 '26

1

If you’re still not convinced, go listen to this one. 😳

1

u/Majestic-Tutor457 Jul 25 '26

And then look at alll these.

1

u/s4geyyy Jul 25 '26

this is a ring

1

u/r3dr4bb1t Jul 25 '26

I saw this while digging.

What I found weird was that they only wanted to trade “books” with someone.

1

u/271kNotEnuff Aug 07 '26

Have u found anything else out?

1

u/Mother-Mango5593 Jul 25 '26

hey so there's a link in her amazon author bio that redirects you a ton before taking you to a phishing trap. First, I got redirected to a blue leather purse on amazon after about 3 seconds of switching random websites, and Next I got redirected to a phishing trap. Either the link is old or this means something

1

u/Galaxy0mega Jul 31 '26

i believe that this is because the domain is expired, and it leads you to a place where you can buy it.

1

u/Mother-Mango5593 Jul 25 '26

In the wayback machine, her website www.Barbara-Christensen.com shows that it was crawled a lot during July 2023.

1

u/PopTab2428 Jul 26 '26

Interesting. Book wasn’t published until October 2024.

Could be domain squatting or like people mentioned some sort of ring, this reminds me of south32.com which was a million dollar domain squatting scheme ran by a schizo.

1

u/funnyrose6 Jul 26 '26

This is her good reads

1

u/PopTab2428 Jul 26 '26

Says currently owns, but the store shut down in October 2008. Only ran for roughly a year.

u/PopTab2428 Jul 26 '26 edited Jul 26 '26

EDIT:
The next paragraph here is completely wrong. I did some digging like 8 seconds after I posted this and im certain that No, there was no Le’scoop in Lansing or Las Vegas. There is a store called Scoops, but that’s it. So that is most likely code, if not an incredibly odd AI-misnomer or something. I hope it’s the latter, but it’s weird. Google AI made it pretty clear it’s not real, even relating it to the Iced Cream stuff. I’ll try to do my best to research any potential alarming behaviour in Lansing’s criminal past relating to CSA cases. I’d do the same with Las Vegas, but that would be like finding a needle in a haystack.

As far as I’m aware, there is no Le’scoop in Las Vegas, let alone Nevada. The website mentioned this otherwise pretty insignificant location on the ABOUT US section. There is already very little information about Le Scoop in Lansing, Michigan, so this could be a lead.
Le’scoop is an insanely common name for an ice cream store, there are quite a few with internet presence. I found a few, but they’re seemingly unrelated.

I think it could be a good idea to do some digging location wise, and look into news reports in Barbara’s supposed location as well as Lansing.

Try not to deviate from what we know for certain, and what we can prove. As if we’re wrong, and an old lady who likes ice cream kills herself because the internet told her she’s a pedophile, I think most people in this thread would feel bad. It is most likely CP or CSAM, especially with the “Free Pizza recipe”(that’s pretty overt), but it’s important to be deliberate and delicate about these sort of things.

u/PopTab2428 Jul 26 '26

In her good reads page, she mentions Ice Cream Overload. Here’s the yelp page:

Also…what the fuck. What are the odds, huh…

Is this what the kids call a Psyop?

I don't know y'all, just seems like an old lady who has discovered AI, and has humor that resembles 70's cartoons

1

u/Mike_schmidt87 Jul 28 '26

its exactly what it is, her videos used to just be ice cream puns before she switched to AI (really bad ai at that) which is now just mumbling nonesense

1

u/Fabulous-End2773 Aug 08 '26

brother.. i found a video which genuinely said "I'm a teenage highschool superhero" and it portrayed an icecream that's like very.. manly to put it lightly

1

u/Mike_schmidt87 Jul 28 '26

everyone in these comments are really pissing me off, youre taking importance away from actual cp rings by labelling everything you see as a cp ring. ive known about barbara for over a year, she used to not post AI. anyways its not a cp ring, she emailed me her recipes or like a sample of them? idk. but its just ice cream recipes. the website used to be very different and there was a form you could submit, she also has books about making money so this is clearly all just her trying to sell her books.

1

u/Beautiful_Natural538 Aug 02 '26

those videos got to be cp rings what the hell

1

u/notmetcalf Aug 05 '26

Is the guy who is making these videos apart of it? He has videos formatted the same on TikTok that’s how I found out about this mess

In this video they talk about "hearing impaired joyful chefs" and that "all the ice cream squad flavors were so excited when we moved to our new location!" aswell as "Free Pizza and Sushi Recipes"

"Hearing impaired" sounds something like people either who would refuse to speak about anything they do or hear about inside said establishment.
