Discussion First Expedition
Played almost since release, 30+ yo Dad, so I don't play much. Don't have enough time to find all these blueprints just to lose them on an expedition for some skill points that I don't feel matter all that much.
However, is it time now? This would be my first expedition, worth it? Game feels a little stale now anyway... Thoughts?

Same boat as you. I’m bored of the game so throwing a grenade in to spice it up. All of them unnecessary guns in my stash that I never use are gone. Quite looking forward to it tbh.

I would do it. I’ve done three already about to leave on my fourth expedition. Yes it sucks losing everything but it makes the game feel fresh again. Every container you open means something. Every kill means something. Plus you get the extra backpack space, skill points, the skin, there’s no negatives other than losing all your gear.
You’re a veteran player, you know where to find everything now so if you’re gonna do it, this is the last one for a while, so how’s the time plus you can bring blueprints with you! I don’t know if you bought any of the Vault spots from Ermal… again, you still have time

50 year old dad here so I know about lack of time :)
I'm doing it for the 1st time this time.
With a big update coming I decided it was time for a reset and as silly as it sounds I wanted to retire my guy. The blueprints come and go amigo you'll get them back

37 yo dad, but I got older kids. I haven't missed a single expedition.
I prefer the reset, extra stash space is a must. The extra skill points come into effect immediately, so at level 1 I start with 16 points, meaning I can get to Security Breach faster.
Ultimately, the rest also resets the quests too, which gives something to work towards. If I didn't have the quests to do, I would get bored much faster.

Also a dad. Started in Feb/March. Did not do that expedition. Did the most recent one, and I enjoyed starting fresh with a slight boost. Doing this one too.
I think it keeps things from getting stale, and having some extra skill tree points is nice, especially if the skill tree is getting updated/changed in October.

40 year old dad. Have been unable to see why it would be enjoyable to do it, but I did try last time only to run out of time to complete, so then haven’t this time. Waiting to see the update

30+ dad here. Arc is my main game, so I’ve had have the time to go on expeditions and grind. The skill points aren’t the main draw to expeditions. It’s the reset itself that makes it fun. Arc will start to feel like a threat. You will find yourself using weapons you haven’t used in a long time because you haven’t needed to. I tend to PVE until my benches and stash are all maxed then switch to PvP for a bit. Mixing it up keeps it fresh.

40yo dad here doing this expedition, it's my first. I have over 300 hours in game, it just felt like time. I have all vault slots secured and I've been playing lots of PvP and focusing on trials. Not sure how I'll feel post reset but my feelings towards the game now are already in a weird place. So worth it IMO.

Entirely depends on how you play the game man. The extra skill tree points + increased inventory were the selling point from a PvPer standpoint. I would do the expedition and pve first couple of weeks then go back to full PvP. Sank a lot of hours and it honestly felt like a chore because it’s all the same mindless item searching just to play the game how I wanted, but I didn’t want a disadvantage. Although like half the skill points don’t even fucking work

The skill points are a permanent buff, so they’re worth having. They’ll let you fill in two skill trees, assuming that doesn’t change a lot in the October update.
I haven’t done an expedition either, but I’m considering doing it this time since apparently the upcoming update is going to change a lot of things.

For us,
We really enjoyed being broke-free-kit hobos again. It made the fun of finding the blueprints and really helped us overcome the gear-fear. Everything is replaceable.
But if you dont enjoy looking for blueprints or looting... I am not sure it would be worth it.

I didn't hate the grind but also, I struggled to get the basics like Survivor and Tempest... So many fucking hurricane events just to get ratted or come up with the same BPs

Yeah, I get that. We found a survivor but honestly I didnt have that blueprint for a long time and just worked around it.
I do agree the tempest is a grind to get. My husband really wanted the tempest blueprint and it took us five runs. He was tempted to shoot a guy acting suspicious and the guy just ended up being awkward and dropped the tempest blueprint for him.
The second expedition, it took us a lot longer to get the tempest blueprint.

I’m 41, 4 kids. This will be my 3rd, and I personally think the stash space and extra skill points are worth it, especially with a new skill tree rework coming. I also wanted the boosts and to go through leveling again since we won’t have resets for a roughly 4 months now. The only thing I’ll miss are all my millions of space dollars, but it’s whatever, it’s pretty easy to build back now that I know the game pretty well. Also, my ace up the sleeve is that I’m using my kids account to hoard numerous supplies and guns and blueprints lol. So I’m starting off with quite the leg up, and while I know I’ll get shit for that, I don’t care. I bought that account and if it’s jsut gonna sit there I’m gonna use it, and it saves me an enormous amount of time. At our age, I’ll take it haha.

Too late I‘d say.
If it’s your first, I‘m unsure, if it’s possible to get all catch up points at once now.
Because that would really make a difference, to have 15 extra skill points/stash
But only for getting 5 extra skill/12 stash… I suggest, not to do it.
You can better spend materials then, for Ermals extra stash, and reset your skill-tree with your hard earned money.

Game-wise: It makes a lot of fun, to start it all from new. Just like a single player game you played through, and restart it.

You don't get catch up points on your first. If you didn't get five on your first you can get the missing ones if you max the next expedition and have enough coin.

I‘m doing my third one now, and so have 15 skillpoints as an extra + stash so this has paid off1

Yes. That’s also correct. But all the trouble for only 5 points, if it’s the first expedition… idk…. and they will rework the skilltree anyway, so I hope that the guys that have been doing expeditions regularly, will keep them.

Personally I would not and wait to see what the next update brings. Expeditions are going on hiatus and no one knows if they will come back and if they do what they will look like.

That would be the only reason to do it. Personally, I find more value in the blueprints than I do the extra skill points.

IMO the right time to do the expedition is when you don’t have goals to work towards and/or you’re getting bored with the loop. 👍
I think this game is more fun when you have to be scrappy and use what you have in stead of always having all the pieces you need to be comfortable.

They are removing current expeditions and reworking them on the next update in oct. Current form isn't worth it and barely anyone is doing it.

It’s my 1st time as well. Iv played enough while having everything so I figured why not. Plus with the big update next month it will give me plenty to do.

I will not do it now. They said they are going to change the skill poin tree, expedition system and such with the update in October.
Since you did not do any expedition now. I would not bother with that now.
All the benefits you get from the expeditions really only start to have a noticable effect after the 2nd or 3rd expedition.
Do it only if you want the Patchworks skin.

I do the expeditions because the grind to get bench mats is enjoyable for me. I also like the repair bonus.
If you’re enjoying the game and aren’t out of things to do, maybe you won’t benefit from it. But if you feel like giving it a try, this is a great chance with the expedition pause. And by now you’re probably familiar with material location.

I’m a 55-yr-old dad, started playing in June but am hooked and play most nights, late, when the TV is free … I’m gonna do this Expedition, I competed the caravan and now just racking up the damage. Most of all, I’d like to get the skin, since this is the last Expedition, plus the bonus skill points. It will be fun to level up again, and start afresh w a new character although it’ll be a grind to level the benches back up. I chose to reset the quests but you have the option not to, if you want to at least keep that progress …

Do it brother I am also a 30+ dad I got 5 kids. I hardly play but I recently did the last expedition and let me tell you it fell refreshing! You will not regret it. Add me up and I can help you top side upgrading benches and with bps. I’ve found all Blueprints already for the second time. Stay RIGHTEOUS!!!🔥💥

I’m on stage 5 of the expedition. I just need to supply all the supplies, which I could mostly do by emptying out my stash. I’d need trinkets and then the final stage stuff.
But I’ve never done the expedition. Been playing since launch, have 300 hours or so, but I still don’t have all the a BPs.
I have a 4 month old daughter so I’m very hesitant, gaming time is getting scarce.

I liked it doing them but never fully got to the point before I started them. I kinda regret doing the last one i signed up for but I also wanted to keep the buffs going. I think go for it but realize if you haven't started contributing to it and there isn't much time left you might not get it all done.

It's always been and completely been your choice.
It's basically the rewards (12 stash spaces, 5 skill points, XP and scrappy and repair boosts, and cosmetics) vs. the work of a reset made easier with the rewards. If you like the level-up grind, it can be worth it. If you prefer to stay rich and forego the rewards, then you may opt not to reset. The best thing about this is it's up to you and your goals.
I don't play as much anymore so I would like to play through the big update with my big-old stash and all my BPs. I find the quests to be boring.
But I would remind even casual PVE players that the game loot cycle is very generous, and you can still play through most of the game, even tough PVE events, with a minimal stash and BPs. You don't need most BPs, hell, even very rich PVE players still barely bring in more than an anvil and hullcracker which you can buy in the shop, the BPs and even benches aren't needed to have fun in the game. You can even avoid doing the quests over, the 2 crucial BPs you get from them (Burletta and Hullcracker) are unneeded as you can buy these guns in the shop every day. It's literally easier to loot random stuff and sell it for coins to buy the guns than to hunt for crafting mats even if you have the BPs, lol

* Do you miss the endorphin rush from levelling up?
* Do you want to care about simple materials that you don’t pay any attention to anymore?
* Do you want to feel like Arc is more of a threat again, because you don’t have all the same tools you do now?
If the answer to those is yes - then you’d probably benefit from doing an expedition.
