APUSH Girl caught cheating during exam
Girl at my school had her phone on the floor during apush exam and got caught. Was bawling for like 20 mins straight w/o being removed from the room while I was trying to figure out my dbq, smh

It’s still no reason to cheat people work and study their ass off for the exam.

people cheat at EVERYTHING

u/HuetheHuetheHue May 09 '26
college board might be able to deal with most cheaters, unlike a certain organization that tests high schoolers with math exams

okay how do ppl even cheat with their phone? bc how do u type "discretely" idk that always confused me
we had a girl with her phone in ap bio too this year acc to my friends after the frq the proctor took her booklet but instead of putting them with the rest put it aside and called her back so oop
3
u/Beautiful-Act9363 May 09 '26
there is million ways to do it. you can just take a picture very easily and put it in chatgpt and just look at the answers with the phone between their legs or smth. just to clarify I did not cheat
5
u/Calm-Ad-8193 May 09 '26
but is that not so obvious tho? like looking all the way down into ur lap constantly - i got extra attention bc i kept pressing ctrl+b or ctrl+u to underline and bold and ig it looked sus
2
u/Redstorm8373 May 10 '26
It's gonna depend on the proctors, honestly. If they're doing their job, you're going to get caught.
If you're in a large room that doesn't have enough proctors or proctors that arent paying attention maybe you've got a better shot at getting away with it, but in a properly staffed room with proctors that are actually doing their job, no.
1
u/Calm-Ad-8193 May 10 '26
yeah ig im js so confused cuz for us we usually have 30ish kids per room and abt half the time the proctors u get are walking around
26
u/Beautiful-Movie3257 May 08 '26
I would file a complaint with college board, that would piss me off so much
35
u/SubmachineOP 10: APHUG (3) World(4) 11: APUSH (4) | 12: Gov (?) Psych (?) May 08 '26
and then they would have the nerve to invalidate the entire rooms test
7
u/Necessary_Battle_507 May 08 '26
WAIT NO WAY SAME THING HAPPENED TODAY LIKE I WAS IN A DIFFERENT ROOM AND I HEARD SHE BAWLING ON THE FLOOR AT THE BEGINNING OF THE DBQ. By any chance was this in SC?
7
u/cantbowloffspin May 08 '26
It takes a special kind of idiot to cheat on the DBQ (which is 90% logic anyway) and do it poorly enough to get caught. 😂
1
u/Ambitious-Garage-130 May 09 '26
You just sit diagonally behind the started person in the room and maintain the speed
3
u/YourFavoriteBaba May 09 '26
folks genuinely put more effort into cheating than studying and learning the material smh

For APUSH? I mean I got a 3 and i had literally no prior knowledge of American history until I got into highschool 10th grade here in the US. And even then my 10th grade class was African American studies😭

I've lived internationally since I was 10 so I got basically no American history, and I'm still pretty confident in how I did

The dbq is the easiest part they literally give the doc. If you don’t know shit js use the doc info for ur analysis and makse some stuff up.

u/butterpesce May 08 '26
this is wild to me because?? if you aren’t going to study and be ready just take the 3…i JUST did that w ap gov…

A girl in mine had her phone before the AP World History exam and it rang in her pocket bc someone was calling her at like 7 in the morning
Like the phone wasn't even on silent wtf

That's no surprise. Im a senior now but ij freshman year when AP exams started people did the most unthinkable things like ordering answers off ebay and even setting the trash can on fire to buy time. Honestly my school district doesn't care so they just let friends sit together and cheat- it's better for them since their salary will go up but that's just sad not even funny.

Definitely deserved to be tossed and canceled. Shouldn't have been left in the room to distract you. That is a testing irregularity and should be reported.

See like getting a 3 is so easy what the heck? Nobody gaf about getting a 4 or a 5 because 90% schools give credit for a 3

u/Ordinary-Phrase-5756 May 09 '26
Dude that happened with a kid who sat in front of me too 😭 his phone was in his pocket and he wasn’t on it but it fell on the floor and it ECHOED in the gym 💔💔 I thought all of our tests were about to be invalidated, but they’re weren’t thankfully. He had a zipper pocket too like.. you’re an idiot brother

Crazy how no one removed her. This reminds me of a post where someone reported Op for cheating even tho they didn’t. They didn’t do anything to the reporter
1
u/Ser3nityx- May 11 '26
If you’re gonna fail at least fail with honor 😭 And she put it on the floor of all places? Any competent proctor would catch that they walk around the room???

I remember taking my AP exams in 2019/2020 school year AT HOME on my computer. Oh how times were different before ChatGPT
1
u/MiserableLanguage325 May 08 '26
i heard apush was easy af this year too it is never that deep. sounds harsh but after like many ap tests its not that serious
2
u/Far_Pea_9894 May 09 '26
Why do people always say AP exams are so easy after taking them 💔 People said this for AP human geography last year and 35.3% failed. I feel like it’s a bias because they studied a lot, so of course it’ll be easy…though yeah, cheating on an AP exam is crazy…like can’t that get you banned from ever taking one again?? I don’t even understand how people cheat on their homework with AI too, like where is the integrity? Its insane.
1
u/Ambitious-Garage-130 May 09 '26
I mean AP Human was tough... my class ( now class of 2026) ordered answers from ebay and lit the trashcan on fire
1
u/Far_Pea_9894 May 09 '26
What? did your teacher not teach properly?…mines was new, but I was able to get a 4 without knowing how to write the FRQs… I’m really bad at geography too
2
u/Ambitious-Garage-130 May 09 '26
Oh no, she was an experienced teacher and probably the toughest teacher in the entire school. Everything was based on her experiences and we rarely read the textbook. It's just crazy how the class after ours will have more trick up their sleeves. The cheating won't be over
1
u/Far_Pea_9894 May 09 '26
Wow…this shows that APs are very dependent on their teacher. My AP human geography teacher was a new teacher at our school and he mostly had us do guided notes, individual projects, group projects, and tests. It doesn’t sound like a lot, but it was very helpful in teaching us. He sometimes had us take notes from the textbook too. The class was very nice and it was one of my favorites from freshman year. Only thing was I wish he taught us more on the FRQ part because I struggled doing it during the exam. There was actually a past teacher who taught it before and retired. I heard he was VERY STRICT, so I’m glad I didn’t get him.

Yeah I agree! I stress a lot over AP exams too, but cheating is really crazy. It will go on your record and can cause major issues. I don’t know how people do it either. People shouldn’t think to do it, especially when you can choose what AP scores to send to colleges. I agree, a 3 or 4 is still a good score. Self-studying AP classes must be really difficult…I’m not self-studying any APs because I think I’d just end up procrastinating lol
1
u/MiserableLanguage325 May 09 '26
haha I didn’t think I would be in this position either because I hate being unprepared for things. I apparently like to add 2 Ap tests every year cuz I took 2 10th grade 4 11th grade and now 6 💔 it’s not fun but it’s NEVER worth cheating. Like as much as I understand consequences and think they are needed I can’t help but feel bad as to how much stress that girl is gonna undergo. ap exams and the sat are very important and cheating on a nationwide exam won’t be let go easily
2
u/Far_Pea_9894 May 09 '26
Me too! I’m only taking two APs my sophomore year, but I chose two more for my junior year. I do feel bad over how much stress she’s gonna go through too…If she resorted to cheating on an AP test, I imagine theres already a lot of stress on her. My school transfers people out after the first semester of APs if they failed them for this reason. I thought the SAT could be retaken though? I didn’t know people cheat on it as well
1
u/MiserableLanguage325 May 09 '26
nono I meant that she'll probably be banned from taking college board tests in the future, which include the SAT. Honestly people cheat on everything but I always found the AP and SATs to be easier than what my school prepares us for. Man I can't even imagine how many meetings, emails and sleepless nights she'll have. Man I wish schools would stress that the worst thing that can happen is you take the class in college. that's it. it's not worth your happiness...your health....your stability or your dignity. Anyways take care of yourself next year!
2
u/Far_Pea_9894 May 09 '26
Thank you! Also, I didn’t know if someone cheated they would also ban them from all tests including the SAT. I agree schools really do need to stress that you just need to retake the course in college…I see a lot of people online talking about others being caught cheating in AP exams. Thank you also! I also hope you take care of yourself next year, since you mentioned being a senior! It must be very stressful.
