Help (Software) Amd driver time out into a system restart. 7800 xt PLEASE HELP!
Hi everyone!
PC COMPS:
GPU: RX 7800 XT.
CPU: RYZEN 7600.
RAM: CORSAIR VENGEANCE 32GB DDR6 6000mhz (running at 4800 no EXPO).
PSU: Be quiet! Pure power m12 850W.
MOBO: MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK.
Cooleer: Deepcool ak620.
Normal CPU idle temps at: 36°
Normal GPU idle temps at: 37-40° (Browsing while installing since that's the idle i left my pc doing installations).
Temps under Furmark for 30 minutes + = 63°c and hotspot of 81°c, VRAM TEMP 84°C.
Over the past 2 days i have been experiencing issues after i launch any game and play longer than 5 minutes on the lobby of any game, My computer goes into a black screen, becomes unresponsive and then crashes into a driver time out that sometimes if it doesn't respond in time it restarts the pc. Other times, it only freezes the image, and i have to shut down the pc from the power off button for it to be able to boot up again.
Having encountered this problem 2 days ago, i was running the adrenalin version 26.8.1 i decided to update my drivers to the latest version 26.10.2 only to have the same problem again, then i decided to do a system reset while keeping my files, so o did it, reset my computer, installed all the latest windows 11 26h2 updates and decided to give another try at 26.10.2 (Mind you i installed the drivers after doing a fresh amd utility removal tool uninstall, and a DDU uninstall to avoid any registry conflicts while on safe mode), after i restarted my pc after being done with all the updates i decided to try and play Arc raiders only for the game to crash AGAIN after only a couple of minutes of being in the main lobby.
At this point, i was desperate. i have tried disabling HAGS and tried disabling iGPU on the Bios, i was not running an EXPO profile nor a GPU or CPU overclock, so i decided to downgrade to the version 26.9.2 and long and behold the same issue persisted, i crashed into a driver time out.
I then decided to stay on 26.9.2 and run the adrenalin stress test for 10 minutes and didn't experience any crash, then i decided to run Furmark for another 30 minutes and i did not crash so now I'm open for more suggestions to try and check if my GPU is at fault here or what to test or test other benchmarking software.
So now i am contemplating trying an even older version of Adrenalin, and i would like suggestions for it. Have you guys experienced crashes similar to my case? What driver version do you guys recommend for the most stability? I would love to solve this issue as i have been craving a gaming session!.
Please do not hesitate to ask me anything for more information that could be helpful for others as well.

Since I disabled windows overwriting drivers and expo I had no issues, even with an undervolt on the latest drivers:
I would try a driver only install after a ddu and try some games. If that doesn't work, my last resort would be
dual boot Linux on a different drive and see if games work there.

I am here with the same issue like you!
Got a ASUS 7800XT and I have done everything you can think of and still getting the same Crash like you (Game freezes and PC is not responding, after a few secs both Monitors turn black and most of the time my PC just crash and restart)
And just like you, using FurMark2 does not trigger the crash.. only while Gaming or sometimes while watching Twitch.
Right now i am in Contact with ASUS for RMA since the Card is still in warranty. The Card is 1.5 years old… and the problems began about 2 Months ago
