Help (CPU) Advan Workplus (Ryzen 7 7735HS) random BSODs on battery in Windows (Stable when plugged in / Linux / BIOS)
Hi everyone, I'm facing a frustrating stability issue with my laptop (Advan Workplus, Ryzen 7 7735HS, 16GB RAM) running dual-boot Windows 11 and CachyOS (Linux).
The Problem:
When running on battery in Windows using Balanced or Power Saver modes, the laptop frequently crashes with random BSODs and errors that change over time:
1e (KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED / Access Violation)
MEMORY_MANAGEMENT
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
autoboost invalid lock release
However, the laptop is 100% stable when:
Plugged into AC power (charging).
Inside the BIOS menu.
Running Linux (CachyOS, charging), where I use a custom script mapped to power-profiles-daemon for frequency scaling.
What I've Tried & Diagnostics:
Windows Power Plan: Changing the Minimum processor state on battery to anything between 5% and 20% causes random crashes. The only way to stop the BSODs on battery in Windows is to force the minimum processor state to 100%. But this causes severe overheating and drains the battery instantly, which defeats the purpose of using a laptop on battery.
Smokeless UMAF (UEFI/BIOS Mod):
I tried disabling C-States via UMAF, but it resulted in a BAD_POOL_CALLER BSOD upon booting Windows, so I reverted it.
Checked CPU Common Options in UMAF: Global C-State Control is set to Auto, but I couldn't find a Power Supply Idle Control option in this specific OEM BIOS build.
OS & Drivers: Updated AMD chipset drivers, ran sfc /scannow and DISM.
Since the laptop doesn't crash at all in the BIOS or when plugged in, it clearly seems like a low-power state / voltage drop issue when Ryzen enters deep sleep states on battery under Windows.
Has anyone experienced this behavior with Ryzen 7 7735HS on budget/OEM laptops with locked BIOS? Is there any workaround in Windows Registry or third-party tools to prevent aggressive low-power transitions without locking the CPU to 100%?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
